Diet Punter Weighs In As Welsh Grandad Scores Everton Winner

DIET GAMBLER IAN LAYS OFF XMAS TURKEY TO CLINCH £1000 WINNINGS
A William Hill customer was set to lay off the Christmas turkey on December 25 in order to clinch a £1000 payout from the bookies after betting that he could lose five stone by Christmas Day.
Former RAF man, 44 year old Ian Armstrong, from Bradford, suffered a football injury which stopped him training and saw his weight balloon from12 stone to 17.
He struck a bet with William Hill last January that he would be back to 12 stone by Christmas Day, staking £50 at odds of 20/1, standing to win £1000. ‘The terms of the bet are that Ian must weigh 12 stones actually ON December 25, so although we understand he had got down to that weight some days ago, we need confirmation that he hasn’t gone back above the 12 stone mark on Christmas Day – so it may be a case of no Xmas turkey for Ian so that he can clinch the bet’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Ian plans to give his winnings to his sons’ junior football team.
**PROUD GRANDAD STAN CRAIG from Caernarvon, Wales, is celebrating winning £3400 from William Hill after his grandson, Nathan, made his debut first team appearance for Everton last week. Eight years ago, when Nathan was just another 10 year old wannabe Premiership player, Stan staked £100 at 33/1 with Hills that the boy would play for any Premiership team – so when 18yo Nathan came on as a substitute in a Europa League game for Everton this week, the bet was won.
Stan has also backed the left sided midfielder to win a senior international cap for Wales and will collect another £10,000 if he does so after betting £100 at 100/1. ‘Stan’s pride in his grandson has paid off spectacularly and brought him a wonderful Christmas bonus’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

You Bet Terry All Gold For Fabio And Carlo

IS TERRY STILL ALL GOLD FOR CARLO AND FABIO?

WITH JOHN TERRY’S name being linked to potentially embarrassing tabloid stories, William Hill are betting on whether he will start England’s first game of the World Cup, and Chelsea’s first Premiership game of next season as captain.
Hills offer 1/10 that he will start as skipper in England’s opening World Cup game against USA – 11/2 that he will not; and 1/5 that he will start as skipper in Chelsea’s opening game of the 2010/11 Premiership season, but 10/3 that he will not. ‘There is unanimous support in public for John Terry from both Fabio Capello and Carlo Ancelotti and it seems unlikely that the current stories will cost him either the England or Chelsea captaincy – but should any more emerge his position may not remain quite so secure’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

HESKEY FOR ENGLAND?

WITH Martin O’Neill declaring that Emile Heskey’s injury is not as as at first feared, William Hill make the Villa man a 4/7 chance to start in England’s opening World Cup game against USA – and 5/4 not to. ‘Punters looking to back Emile to play in England’s opening game will be pleased to hear that he is unlikely to be sidelined through injury for any significant length of time’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
