Last Gasp Goal Is £18,000 Happy New Year Winner
Ian Stern, a 37 year old from Leeds, is celebrating a New Year’s Day to remember after winning over £18,000 on a William Hill football coupon for a stake of just £3.28. And a goal scored in the dying seconds of a match by York player Jamal Fyfield was worth £17,000 of his winnings!
Ian predicted a New Year ‘goalfest’ in the Blue Square Premier – and was vindicated when he selected eight games that produced four or more goals and included them in eight 41p seven-match accumulator bets.
Despite his fantastic win, Ian claims to be more of a tennis fan, but if he is betting on football it is always on goals galore being scored.
I always go for number of goals, rather than win accumulators because the bet runs from the first until the last minute, said Ian. And to have a win like this just after Christmas is a real bonus.
Jamal Fyfields goal in the 91st minute of Yorks 2-2 with Mansfield was the difference between Ian winning £1070.33 and his ultimate win of £18,165.90.
Jamal Fyfields last gasp equaliser was fantastic for Yorks fans, but even more so for Ian who claims that he does not support a particular team, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly. My guess would be that his loyalties now rest with York.
