Brazil Odds On For Olympic Gold As Nearest Rivals Fall

Brazil made it two wins out of two at London 2012 on Sunday. With Spain’s early elimination and Uruguay flattering to deceive the Samba Boys are currently odds on 8/13 with William Hill to win Olympic Gold.

The Brazilian’s shining light is Neymar and he is 7/4 to top the scoring charts after a wonderful free kick against Belarus took his tally to two. Team GB scored an impressive victory against the United Arab Emirates and they are now joint second favourites with Japan at 7/1 for gold.

“Team GB looked a lot better on Sunday than they had previously but Brazil look a class above. With Spain’s elimination it is no surprise that Brazil have gone odds on after netting six times in two games,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

The Come Beck Kid 7/2 To Fulfil Olympic Dream

Stuart Pearce may have not selected David Beckham for the 18 man Olympics football squad but he has hinted that he may well be on the stand by list. He is 7/2 with William Hill to play at the games.

If selected on the stand by list Beckham could only take the place of Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy or Micah Richards due to the restrictions of over age players. Golden Balls is 8/1 to score this summer and it is 14/1 that it is from a free kick. Even more remarkable would be if he captained the team. That is offered at 12/1 with Hills.

“Becks playing at the Olympics would be remarkable even to his own standards. It was a shock to see him omitted from the squad but would be even more shocking if he were to come back. No one wants to play for their country more than Beckham and it would be really good to see him represent Team GB this summer,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Are Manchester City Edin To The Premier League Title?

William Hill are offering 6/4 that Manchester City new boy, Edin Dzeko, scores more than six goals in the remainder of the Premier League. He is 7/4 to score five or six goals and the same price to score less than five. City will be hoping that Dzeko will spearhead City’s push for the title and Hills are offering 4/6 that City win the Premier League before Dzeko leaves the club and 11/10 they do not. City are 6/1 to win the league this season.

“Mancini has stated that he expects Dzeko to become a very important player for Manchester City and the odds suggest that his presence will help City win the league,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills are offering 11/10 that Dzeko’s first goal comes from inside the 18 yard area (excluding header), 4/1 that he scores from outside the area and 7/4 that he notches a goal with his ‘Ed.

Bookies Paying The Penalty For Rooney’s Lack Of Form

Wayne Rooney scored from the spot last night against Rangers taking his Manchester United tally this season to two…both goals being penalties. William Hill have opened a book on the method of Rooney’s next goal and make a penalty 5/1. Rooney to score from a shot inside the penalty box is Hill’s 4/7 favourite, while a shot from outside the penalty box is offered at 9/2.

“Wayne Rooney scored a penalty against Rangers, however, that does not disguise the fact that he is suffering from a continued dip in form. It could well be that he adds to his tally with another penalty,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Wayne Rooney Odds:

Method of Next Goal: 4/7 shot from inside the box (excluding header & penalty); 9/2 Shot from outside the box (excluding header or free kick); 5/1 Penalty; 6/1 Header; 12/1 Direct from free kick.

Champions League Specials – Beckham And Play Offs

*********************************William Hill CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPECIALS:
PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PLAY OFFS A NON STARTER? YOU BET….
BOOKMAKERS William Hill are offering 9/2 that the Premier League WILL introduce a play off to determine who gets the fourth Champions League place, during the 2010/11 season – but offer 1/8 that they will NOT. ‘This may seem an attractive idea in theory, but could result in a team finishing perhaps a dozen points or more away from an automatic Champions League place eventually qualifying for the tournament – what purpose would that serve? It would also mean more matches for tired players, which probably wouldn’t play well with international team bosses. Would Capello be happy if that system were in place this season and a key player was injured as a result? We think it is a non-starter.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
