Barton Backed For Big Ban…scholes Set For Sensational Return

William Hill have cut the price of Joey Barton’s ban being eight or more games following 90% of all bets placed on the market being for over. He is now 4/7 to face a ban of over 7.5 games (5/4 not to).

“Joey has always been known for his pugnacious style, but he may have overstepped the line one too many times and our punters think the FA are ready to throw the book at the QPR captain,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Gary Neville has been called up to the England backroom staff and William Hill make the former United man 14/1 to be the next boss of the England National team. With the 23 man squad set to be named on Wednesday, William Hill are betting on which players make the grade. Joe Hart, Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole and Steven Gerrard are 1/100 to be on the plane while Scott Parker, Gary Cahill and Gareth Barry are 1/50.

Surprisingly, Paul Scholes has claimed that he would be open for a call up to the Euros squad and he is 6/4 to go.

Pompey Return For Fa Cup Winners?

Portsmouth are manager-less following Steve Cotterill’s departure to Forest and William Hill make current Pompey first team coach, Stuart Gray, the 7/2 favourite to take the top job. Academy manager, Andy Awford is 5/1 with players from the ‘golden generation’, Sol Campbell and David James offered at 12/1 and 16/1 respectively.

“With Portsmouth still struggling financially, the appointment may well come from within the club rather than bringing in an outsider, although players such as Campbell and James hold the club dear to their hearts following their FA Cup win and may well be tempted to take their first steps into football management at Fratton Park,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Cotterill has taken the helm at the City Ground and Hills make Forest 100/1 to win the league under the popular former Portsmouth man and 20/1 offered for promotion. Relegation may well be more likely at 11/2.

Next Portsmouth manager: 7/2 Stuart Gray; 5/1 Andy Awford; 6/1 Paul Hart; 7/1 Guy Whittingham; 8/1 Kevin MacDonald; 8/1 Mark Robins; 12/1 Sol Campbell; 14/1 Joe Jordan; 16/1 Kit Symons; 16/1 David James; 50/1 Paul Merson

Goldenballs Beck To England But Tevez Could Be Off…

David Beckham’s contract with LA Galaxy is due to run out in November and William Hill think that his next contract will be in England offering 8/13 that he returns to these shores. With reported interest from PSG, Hills make France the 4/1 second favourite while he is 5/1 to stay in the US. Recent reports have suggested that Manchester United may be lining Becks up for a Sporting Director’s role and Hills make him 12/1 to fill that role before the end of 2012.

“Becks has never hidden the fact that he would love to return to Manchester United and while he may not be able to bend it as much as he used to, there may well be a seat with his name on in the upper echelons of Old Trafford,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

With Carlos Tevez coming back off his suspension, William Hill do not hold out much hope of him staying put for too long and Hills are offering odds on who he will join next. He is 11/4 to move to Juventus and 4/1 to join Corinthians.

William Hill think that Wayne Rooney will only miss one match of the European Championships following his red card against Montenegro. He is offered at 2/5 for his ban to be set at one game, while he is 7/4 to be the recipient of at least a two game suspension.

Where will Beckham’s next contract be: 8/13 England; 4/1 France; 5/1 USA; 7/1 Italy; 16/1 UAE; 20/1 Scotland; 25/1 Brazil; 25/1 Qatar; 50/1 (*includes any coaching role **Bets void if no contract signed by the end of 2013)

Beckham to be officially appointed Manchester United’s Sporting Director before the end of 2012: 12/1

Carlos Tevez next club: 11/4 Juventus; 4/1 Corinthians; 6/1 AC Milan; 6/1 Inter Milan; 7/1 Real Madrid; 8/1 PSG; 10/1 Boca Juniors; 12/1 Napoli; 16/1 Chelsea; 16/1 West Ham; 20/1 Arsenal; 20/1 Barcelona

Wayne Rooney Ban Length: 2/5 one match; 7/4 two or more matches (pertains to red card vs Montenegro)

Nottingham Forest next manager: 8/11 Steve Cotterill; 5/2 Mark Robins; 4/1 Kevin MacDonald; 9/2 Roy Keane; 8/1 John Pemberton; 10/1 Nigel Clough; 20/1 BAR

Republic of Ireland to qualify for Euro 2012: 5/6 yes; 5/6 no

Rooney Backed For Two Match Ban As Robins 5th Runner To Be Forest Favourite

ROONEY BACKED TO GET TWO MATCH+ EURO BAN

William Hill have cut their odds for Wayne Rooney to be banned for two games or more following his sending off against Montenegro from 11/4 to 7/4. ‘We haven’t taken any particularly hefty individual bets but the overwhelming majority of those we have taken are for an extended suspension’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills now offer 2/5 that he will be banned for just the one game.

FIFTH FOREST FAVOURITE

MARK ROBINS is the fifth contender to become favourite to succeed Steve McClaren as Forest manager with William Hil who make the former Barnsley boss 2/1 to take over, ahead of 9/4 second favourite Steve Cotterill; 5/2 Roy Keane; 7/2 Nigel Clough; 11/2 Kevin MacDonald; 9/1 John Pemberton.
‘As seems to be par for the course with so many such markets, the Forest managerial merry-go-round has been a volatile one and you wouldn’t be over surprised if there were another five favourites before the issue is finally resolved’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Macdonald Favourite Once More As Villa Saga Continues

After a see-saw 48 hours in the betting for who will be the next Aston Villa manager, bookmakers William Hill have now reinstated Kevin MacDonald as the favourite to take the job on a permanent basis. MacDonald is priced at 5/4 having drifted to 2/1 yesterday. Gerard Houllier has been slashed from 10/1 to 5/2 while Alan Curbishley has eased from 2/1 to 11/4. The shortlist looks certain to contain the top three in the betting.

“Thursday saw a lot of movement in the market and this prompted us to believe that a decision was imminent. All that can be surmised from yesterday’s activity is that Villa appear to have narrowed their shortlist down to three candidates,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Odds:

Next Aston Villa Manager: 5/4 Kevin MacDonald; 5/2 Gerard Houllier; 11/4 Alan Curbishley; 12/1 Sven Goran Eriksson; 20/1 Alex McLeish; 20/1 Bob Bradley; 20/1 Ronald Koeman; 20/1 David Moyes; 25/1 BAR

Massive Gamble Curbs Punters’ Interest In Macdonald

A massive gamble in the last 24 hours has seen Alan Curbishley become the 7/4 outright favourite at William Hill to become the new Aston Villa manager, having been 10/1 at yesterday. Gerard Houllier has also had his odds slashed from 12/1 on Monday to 9/2. Long-time favourite and current caretaker, Kevin MacDonald is the 2/1 second favourite, having been odds-on to take the job yesterday. Sven Goran Eriksson is the 7/1 fourth favourite.

“Having been seen as a relative outsider at the start of the week, Alan Curbishsley now finds himself at the top of a shortlist that the odds suggest includes just Gerard Houllier and Kevin MacDonald. The gamble we have seen over the last 24 hours seems to suggest that an announcement is imminent,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Odds

Next Aston Villa Manager: 7/4 Alan Curbishley; 2/1 Kevin MacDonald; 9/2 Gerard Houllier; 7/1 Sven Goran Eriksson; 11/1 David Moyes; 14/1 Ronald Koeman; 16/1 Alex McLeish; 20/1 BAR

Curbs Cut For Villa Boss But Macdonald Still Favourite

William Hill have slashed the price of Alan Curbishley becoming the new Aston Villa manager from 10/1 to 4/1 following an overnight gamble that was sparked by a rumoured meeting with Randy Lerner. Conversely, Kevin MacDonald has been eased out from 4/6 to 5/4. Sven Goran Eriksson is the 5/1 third favourite with Gerard Houllier 10/1. The Mark Hughes gamble has ended and he is now 16/1 from a low of 3/1.

“It looks like Curbs met with Randy Lerner yesterday, so he must be on the shortlist; however the odds seem to suggest that Lerner may well stick with MacDonald,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Next Villa Manager: 5/4 Kevin MacDonald; 4/1 Alan Curbishley; 5/1 Sven Goran Eriksson; 10/1 Gerard Houllier; 11/1 David Moyes; 14/1 Ronald Koeman; 16/1 Alex McLeish; 16/1 Mark Hughes; 20/1 Paul Lambert; 20/1 Martin Jol; 20/1 Jurgen Klinsmann; 20/1 Gary Megson; 20/1 Bob Bradley; 20/1 Gareth Southgate; 20/1 Phil Brown; 25/1 BAR
