Old Firm Flop Provides Early Christmas Cheer
Celtic and Rangers both lost on Wednesday to Edinburgh opposition in what was a shock result that reverberated around the SPL. William Hill took less than £200 on both teams to win, the biggest bet of which was placed on an internet account with a stake of £50 at 64/1 netting the lucky punter a staggering £3200. The average bet in the shops was £2 returning £110 and unsurprisingly enough the majority of bets were placed in Edinburgh. The price for the 2-0/3-0 double was a huge 2625/1.
The two results were real coupon busters but those who placed the double will feel as though Christmas had come early. It would have been fantastic if these results had come at the weekend but we are still relatively happy, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly.
