FA Cup Tips
Luton v Millwall
Giant killers Luton became the first non-league side to beat Premier League opposition in the FA Cup with their dramatic win over Norwich City in the last round. With home advantage against Championship opponents, the Hatters will be anticipating another positive result but Millwall won’t make it easy.
The Lions may have enjoyed a mixed season in the league but the side caused a shock of their own by eliminating Premiership Aston Villa in the last round. Form however, is poor with only one point taken from their last four Championship matches.
Luton are struggling too and have lost both their games since the Norwich win. However, expect the
FA Cup to lift the hosts to a draw at the end of ninety minutes.
Oldham v Everton
Having recorded an incredible win over Liverpool in the 4th round, Oldham will be looking for another Premiership scalp when they host Everton in a live televised match. However, the league one side are in disarray after the resignation of manager Paul Dickov this week and that remarkable Cup win has masked a poor season.
Oldham are just outside of the relegation places and after four straight defeats, the club could be destined for league two football next year.
Naturally, Everton will be wary of the threat that the hosts possess and manager David Moyes won’t be happy at dropping two points at home to struggling Aston Villa last weekend. However, Everton are enjoying an impressive season overall and they should seal a narrow away win here.
Manchester City v Leeds United
After their impressive 2-1 home win over Spurs in the last round, Leeds’ reward is a daunting trip to the Etihad and a tie with Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City. Manager Neil Warnock may consider this is a good time to be playing a side who were some way below their best in drawing at home to Liverpool but can the visitors get another positive result?
As for Leeds themselves, they look a weaker side having sold Luciano Becchio to Norwich City in the transfer window and this should be a comfortable win for Manchester City.
