WITH FABIO Capello back in the country the guessing game as to his intentions over the John Terry situation has continued, with William Hill forced to slash their odds about Wayne Rooney taking over as captain for England’s opening World Cup game against USA for the second day running, this time from 10/1 to 6/1. ‘With punters betting up to £250 a time on Rooney taking over the armband we’ve had to cut his odds significantly again’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills have now lengthened Terry from 4/9 to 4/7 to be skipper for that game and make Steven Gerrard 5/2 second favourite, with Rooney 6/1; Ferdinand 8/1; Lampard 16/1; Beckham 20/1.
JOHN TERRY is 8/13 with Hills to keep the captain’s armband in the forthcoming friendly against Egypt, and 6/5 to lose it.
