England defeated Italy although neither side were at their strongest a fact highlighted by the 11/8 offered by William Hill that only four or five of Wednesdays starting XI line up for Englands first WC qualifying game. Roy Hodgsons unbeaten record remains intact and William Hill offer 5/4 that he does not taste defeat until after 2012 has finished.
The match against Italy showed us that the future is bright for England but the odds would suggest a return to a more traditional starting XI once qualifiers start, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly.
Jack Butland became Englands youngest ever goalkeeper and he is 2/1 to play Premier League football this season for any side (4/11 he does not).
Jack Butland to play in a Premier League match this season: 4/11 no; 2/1 yes
How many of tonights starting XI will start Englands first qualifier: 8/1 0-3; 11/8 4-5; 13/8 6-7; 7/2 8-9; 14/1 10-11
England next defeat: 9/1 Moldova (a); 9/2 Ukraine (h); 150/1 San Marino (h); 5/2 Poland (a); 11/4 Sweden (a); 5/4 unbeaten at the end of 2012

Robin van Persie looks set to sign for Manchester United and William Hill make him 8/11 to score more Premier League goals than Wayne Rooney and he is 5/6 to score 22 or more goals. Van Persie won last seasons PFA player of the year award and he is 7/2 to pick up the award again this season. The loss of van Persie could have an adverse effect on Arsenal and they are odds on, at 8/15 to finish lower than the third place they finished last season while Manchester United are 5/6 to score more than the 89 goals that they scored last term.
Van Persie is 8/1 to score four or more Premier League goals against his former club this season while he is 11/10 to outscore both Giroud and Podolski put together.
It looks as though van Persie will hit the ground running for Manchester United and he could possibly reach a similar goals tally to what he approached last season while at the other end of the spectrum, without his goals, Arsenals grip on third spot may slip, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly.
There are a couple of names who could be elbowed out of Old Trafford following RVPs arrival and Javier Hernandez is 7/2 to move to Arsenal from Manchester United and 9/2 to move to Spurs. Real Madrid have often been linked with the striker and he is 10/1 to move to the Bernabeu from Old Trafford. Dimitar Berbatov could also be on his way and Hills make QPR the 4/1 favourites to secure his signature upon him leaving Old Trafford.
Robin van Persie vs Rooney goals match bet: 8/11 van Persie; 1/1 Rooney
Total goals scored by van Persie in Premier League: 5/6 22 or more; 5/6 21 or fewer
7/2 Robin van Persie to win PFA player of the year 2012/13

This weekend Rangers play their first home game in the fourth tier and William Hill go 7/2 that they win every home game this term and 6/4 that they stay unbeaten home and away in the league. Rangers are 15/8 to win against East Stirling with a -3 handicap.
Rangers will want to put on a good show after a sorry summer for the club. They should take confidence from last weekends late equaliser to really show the fans they are up for this fight, said William Hill spokesman Mark Young
Celtic travel to Ross County this weekend and are 4/9 for the victory. The last three games between the two clubs have produced 2-0 score lines on every occasion, one for Celtic and one for County. For either team to win 2-0 is 9/2. With both teams scoring in six of their last seven meetings, Hearts and Inverness are Even money to both score on Saturday.
Kilmarnock and Motherwell is not a fixture that produces many goals as only three of the last eight meetings have produced more than one goal. It is 21/10 that there is one or less goals this weekend. Aberdeen always seem to do well against St Johnstone, where they are travelling on Saturday, unbeaten in their last four visits. Aberdeen are 6/4 draw no bet.
The Dundee derby should produce some fireworks but Dundee are yet to score in the SPL this term. Dundee United are 13/10 to win to nil. Kenny McLean is on fire for St Mirren and for him to score anytime and the Saints to win is 17/2.
