Group A Starting To Take Shape…home Side Should Squeak Through
Poland struggled to a draw against Greece in their first match despite being much fancied but William Hill think that they will still get though the group, offering 10/11 that they do so. They will have to try to get a result against group leaders Russia to do so and Hills make them 11/5 to win and the same price to get a draw.
The game was notable for the fact that two players were sent off and Hills offer 11/2 that Greece get a yellow card in their match against the Czech Republic. Greece had the chance to take the lead against Poland but missed a penalty and Hills offer 14/1 that the match sees another penalty awarded and missed.
The home faithful will have watched Polands game with mixed emotions given the fact that the first half went so well for them but the second half was disastrous, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly. They did not lose, however, so remain in a strong position to qualify.
Russias Alan Dzagoev currently leads the goalscoring charts at the Euros and he is 10/1 to win the golden boot at the tournament only behind Mario Gomez at 5/1.
Russias outright odds tumbled after their 4-1 victory on Friday night and are now 12/1 for glory in Poland and Ukraine.
