Spurs Fancied To Win Battle Of Britain And To Progress Furthest In Europa League
Following the draw for the Europa League playoffs, William Hill have made Tottenham the 9/4 favourites to be the British side to progress furthest in the competition, followed closely by Fulham at 3/1 and Stoke at 7/2. Of the ties, it would appear that Birmingham have the most difficult task, against CD Nacional of Portugal, and Hills go 5/6 take your pick about the pair qualifying. The Battle of Britain see Tottenham taking on Hearts and the English side are 1/10 to progress while the Scottish side are 11/2. Elsewhere, Fulham are 2/5 to qualify, Stoke 2/5, Rangers 4/7 and Celtic 4/7.
Spurs played very well in the Champions League last season and that should hold them in good stead for the Europa League, although Fulham and Rangers have recent history in this competition, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly. Whatever happens, the British sides are sure to feature prominently this year.
