WITH BECKS MISSING, WHO WILL MAKE ENGLAND SQUAD?
David Beckham’s misfortune will be good news for one or two other players who will now have an enhanced opportunity of making the final England World Cup squad of 23 – and Hills believe that Joe Cole and Adam Johnson in particular could benefit, shortening them from 6/4 to 11/8 and 4/1 to 3/1 respectively to make the squad. ‘Competition was already fierce for that place on the right and it was by no means a certainty that Beckham would have gone, even though he was a 1/6 chance to do so, but there are several players who, if they stay fit, could yet have every chance of forcing their way into the squad.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
