TERRY ODDS ON TO RETAIN ENGLAND CAPTAINCY

DESPITE yet another high profile tabloid scandal enveloping the England football team captain, bookmakers William Hill believe John Terry will still be skipper of his country when the 2010 World Cup kicks off – and make him a 4/11 chance to start the opening game against USA wearing the captain’s armband. Hills offer 10/1 that Terry will resign the captaincy before Chelsea kick off their forthcoming midweek game against Hull.
‘Even the most accident-prone politician might find it difficult to survive the sort of stories Terry has been involved in recently, but football seems to have a moral code all of its own and the chances are that Terry will avoid being stripped of the captaincy’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
