Beckham In Pearces 80 For London…1/2 To Start First Game
Stuart Pearce has reportedly whittled down his Team GB shortlist to a mere 80 players and William Hill think that David Beckham, still in the list, has a great chance of making it, offering 1/10 he joins up with the squad and 1/2 he starts the first game. Despite the Welsh, Irish and Scottish FAs all being against the move, Gareth Bale is 1/16 to join the squad and 1/3 to start the first game.
David Beckham was instrumental in the push to get the Olympics onto British soil and it would be an opportunity for him to sign off on a high, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly.
Team GB are the 5/1 third favourites to win the tournament, with Brazil the 15/8 favourites and Spain 9/4.
