Mane-chester United? 33-1 For Rooney Horse To Win At Royal Ascot
With Wayne Rooney becoming the latest, and most high-profile, footballer to venture into the world of horse racing ownership, bookmakers William Hill have priced up a variety of special bets on his first equine purchase.
Trained by Tom Dascombe, Hills quote the horse at 33-1 to win at Royal Ascot 2012 following the success of Michael Owens Brown Panther, also trained by Dascombe, last year.
With Chester racecourse a well-known footballer and WAG haunt, the firm have priced the horse at 12-1 to score at the Cheshire venues feature meeting in May 2012.
Hills offer 200-1 for Rooney to follow in the footsteps of former England player Mick Channon and take up a horse racing trainers licence by the end of 2020.
William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said Wayne Rooney is the most high-profile footballer yet to join the league of equine ownership and the horse must be pretty special to tempt him into this new venture. Who knows, this could be the start of a new retirement fund, or even a new profession, for the footballing star
