Mane-chester United? 33-1 For Rooney Horse To Win At Royal Ascot

With Wayne Rooney becoming the latest, and most high-profile, footballer to venture into the world of horse racing ownership, bookmakers William Hill have priced up a variety of special bets on his first equine purchase.

Trained by Tom Dascombe, Hills quote the horse at 33-1 to win at Royal Ascot 2012 following the success of Michael Owen’s Brown Panther, also trained by Dascombe, last year.

With Chester racecourse a well-known footballer and WAG haunt, the firm have priced the horse at 12-1 to score at the Cheshire venue’s feature meeting in May 2012.

Hills offer 200-1 for Rooney to follow in the footsteps of former England player Mick Channon and take up a horse racing trainers’ licence by the end of 2020.

William Hill spokeswoman Lucy Rhodes said “Wayne Rooney is the most high-profile footballer yet to join the league of equine ownership and the horse must be pretty special to tempt him into this new venture. Who knows, this could be the start of a new retirement fund, or even a new profession, for the footballing star”

First Wayne Rooney-owned horse to win at Royal Ascot 2012: 33-1

First Wayne Rooney-owned horse to win at Chester May meeting 2012: 12-1

Will Carroll Be Singing Following Rooney’s Rush Of Blood?

Wayne Rooney’s red card against Montenegro means that he will miss the opening game of Euro 2012 and William Hill are offering 10/11 that Andy Carroll is the man to start up top in England’s opener. Danny Welbeck is 6/5 second favourite with Theo Walcott 5/4. Rooney’s rush of blood to the head is being portrayed as an isolated incident but Hills go 20/1 about him getting his marching orders against Liverpool on Saturday.

“Rooney’s rush of blood has opened the door for someone else to come in and impress for Capello’s men at Euro 2012 and the odds suggest that Andy Carroll will be the one to benefit,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Ireland are the shortest priced team to qualify for Euro 2012 via the playoffs after they were drawn against Estonia. Trapattoni’s men are 1/3 to reach Poland and Ukraine while Estonia are 9/4. Portugal failed to qualify automatically and face Bosnia. Hills offer 4/9 that they make it through the two legged tie.

Ireland’s first game is away and they are 13/10 to return from Estonia with a victory in the bag.

To Start England’s First Euro 2012 Match: 10/11 Andy Carroll; 6/5 Danny Welbeck; 5/4 Theo Walcott; 2/1 Jermaine Defoe; 5/2 Darren Bent; 7/2 Gabby Agbonlaor; 7/2 Daniel Sturridge; 7/2 Bobby Zamora; 4/1 Peter Crouch; 8/1 Connor Wickham; 11/1 Jay Bothroyd; 14/1 Michael Owen; 16/1 Cameron Jerome

Michael’s G-owen To Have To Do More To Feature For Fergie As United Set To Top A Ton

Michael Owen made a goalscoring return to Manchester United’s first team, but despite this, William Hill do not think that his performance against Leeds will force him back into Sir Alex Ferguson’s Premier League reckoning. He is odds on at 10/11 to start between 0 and one game. He is 8/1 to start six or more games. Owen bagged a brace against Leeds and Hills offer 5/6 that he scores more than seven goals for United this season in all competitions. He is 10/1 to make any appearance for England before the end of Euro 2012 and 16/1 to make Fabio Capello’s Euro 2012 squad.

“Michael Owen will have been delighted to have impressed on his first start for United since January, but the odds suggest that he will need to produce more of the same if he is to elbow his way into Fergie’s Premier League plans,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

United have been in great goalscoring form this season and Hills go 11/2 about the Red Devils scoring 100 or more goals in the Premier League this season.

ROONEY 7/4 TO TOP SCORE FOR ENGLAND IN EURO 2012 FINALS – AND 9/2 TO BEAT BOBBY’S ALL TIME SCORING RECORD

WILLIAM HILL have opened a book on who will top score in the EURO 2012 Finals for England – assuming they make it through. And despite failing to find the net against Wales, Wayne Rooney has been installed as 7/4 favourite. ‘Wayne is the most regularly played striker I the squad and deserves his place at the head of the market but granted a regular starting place in the side Andy Carroll and/or Darren Bent could well run him close’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
HILLS OFFER 9/2 THAT ROONEY, WHO CURRENTLY BOASTS 28 ENGLAND GOALS, WILL EVENTUALLY OVERTAKE BOBBY CHARLTON’S ALL TIME RECORD TOTAL OF 49 FOR HIS COUNTRY. ‘As Gary Lineker and Michael Owen both discovered, Bobby Charlton’s record is a daunting target which many have aimed at but none has yet managed to better’ added Sharpe.
Hills offer 1/8 that Rooney will not reach the target.

Michael’s G-owen Nowhere…125/1 For 2011/12 Golden Boot

Following the news that Michael Owen has put pen to paper on a new one year deal at Manchester United, William Hill are offering 7/4 that he scores less than two Premier League goals and 6/4 that he bags four or more. He is 125/1 to get next season’s golden boot and 20/1 to not play a single minute of Premier League football. He is 5/2 to start one or no Premier League games next season, while he is 9/4 to start six or more.

“In one of the more surprising football stories of the last few days, Owen has signed for another year at United, but Fergie obviously has a role for him and it will be interesting to see how he is utilised by United,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Michael Owen is 7/1 to make an appearance for England in a Euro 2012 Qualifier or Finals match.

Owen’s signature may be the clearest indication yet that Dimitar Berbatov will be heading for the exit and William Hill are now offering odds on where the mercurial Bulgarian will be plying his trade on the first game of next season. He is 11/4 to still be at Manchester United and 7/2 to be playing in the Bundesliga. He is 4/1 to be at Newcastle next season and the same price to be playing in Serie A. He is 25/1 to make the short trip to Eastlands to join United’s arch rivals.

William Hill have released a number of specials for this weekend’s Champions League final. One market of which is who will be the first player to tweet after the game. The 2/5 favourite is serial tweeter, Rio Ferdinand, while Wayne Rooney, who is still relatively new to Twitter is the 5/2 second favourite. Michael Owen is 8/1.

“Rio is a devoted tweeter and there is no doubt that he should be the favourite, although Wayne Rooney is quickly catching him up in terms of tweets and followers and he will be keen to get one up on Rio come Saturday,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
