You Bet Spl Will Go Down To The Wire

Rangers and Celtic face off on Easter Sunday in what is one of the most hotly anticipated Old Firm clashes in recent memory, a game for which Rangers are the 5/4 slight favourites at William Hill. Celtic are 7/4 to win the game, although they have the upper hand in the race for the SPL, with Hills offering them as the 4/6 favourites while Rangers are 11/10. The title race is 8/15to be decided on the final day of the season. El Hadji Diouf is unsurprisingly the 7/1 favourite to receive the first red card of the match, joint favourite with Scott Brown.

No player has scored a league hat-trick in the Old Firm derby since 1966 and Hills offer 22/1 that that statistic is consigned to history come Sunday evening.

Jose Mourinho: The Special One Or A Lucky Punter!

Jose Mourinho has been in charge of Real Madrid for nearly two months and it is almost time to discover if he is indeed the Special One. William Hill have opened a book of Real Madrid specials in anticipation of the forthcoming season. Real are 4/7 to win a major trophy next season (La Liga, Copa del Rey or Champions League) and 5/4 that they do not. Jose is 33/1 to scoop the treble. Despite Mourinho’s preference for defensive football, Real are 7/2 to score more than 100 goals this season and 5/1 to break the La Liga record for goals scored by a team (107 in 1998-9 by Real Madrid). The abject performances in ‘El Classico’ last season certainly did not endear Manuel Pelligrini to the Real faithful and Mourinho is 9/2 to win both Barcelona clashes. For no Real wins, Hills offer 5/4 and Evens that they win one. Should he fail, Hills offer 7/2 that he is out of the job before the last day of the season.

“For the first time in his career there is no hiding in Madrid for Mourinho. With the talent and funds available to him, it could be argued that Real will be expecting to win everything next season. Should he fail, it would be interesting to see if he receives more support from the board than his predecessors have,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Real Madrid specials:

To score more than 100 league goals – 7/2

To break the record for goals scored by a team (107) – 5/1

To win a major trophy next year – 4/7 Yes; 5/4 No

To do the treble (La Liga, Copa del Rey; Champions League) – 33/1

Vs. Barcelona: Number of wins – 5/4 None; 1/1 One; 9/2 Two

Mourinho to still be manager at the start of next season – 1/6 Yes; 7/2 No
