Last Tango In Paris? – Bookies Slash Odds On Ireland V France Replay
William Hill have cut the odds of a replay taking place between Ireland and France from 100-1 to 10-1 following a huge swell of support behind the Irish cause.
The bookies have also reported strong money for Thierry ‘le hand’ Henry getting an official sanction from FIFA or UEFA. They originally offered odds of 10-3 for him to get a ban, but they are now only offering 9-4.
William Hill’s Irish spokesman Tony Kenny said “Punters seem to believe there is a real chance of FIFA ordering a replay and as a result, we’ve been forced to dramatically alter our odds.” He continued “We still think it’s very unlikely there will be a rematch between Ireland and France, but you never know!”
William Hill have also re-installed Ireland into their World Cup 2010 betting at an unlikely 1000-1.
++ William Hill have already pledged to refund all the punters who backed Ireland to qualify for next year’s World Cup finals.
