You Bet England Will Play Scotland In World Cup After All !

YOU BET ENGLAND CAN PLAY SCOTLAND IN WORLD CUP!

William Hill have come up with a way of pitting England against Scotland in the World Cup to provide an unusual betting opportunity for customers north and south of the border. ‘Given the friendly rivalry between the two countries we are delighted to devise a bet which enables supporters to choose between them even though they won’t actually meet on the pitch during the tournament’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Scotland v England

10 players based in the SPL will feature in the World Cup, but for the purposes of this bet, and to make up a side of 11 in a 4-4-2 formation Scotland will ‘adopt ‘ Uruguayan Defender Andres Scotti for these bets.

The SPL select would line up as follows (Only these players count for the purpose of these bets)

Dusan Pernis (Slovakia/Dundee Utd)

Madjid Bougherra (Algeria/Rangers)

Edson Braafheid (Holland/Celtic)

Soulemayne Bamba (Ivory Coast/Hibs)

Andres Scotti (Urugauay/Colo Colo)

Ki Sung-Yong (South Korea/Celtic)

Maurice Edu (USA/Rangers0

DeMarcus Beasley (USA/Rangers)

Landry N’Guemo (Cameroon/Celtic)

Georgios Samaras (Greece/Celtic)

Michael McGlinchey (New Zealand/Motherwell)

Who will score the most goals (Penalty Shoot outs don’t count)?

SPL Select = 9/1

Tie = 13/2

England = 1/8

Who will pick up the most Cards in the tournament?

SPL Select = 7/4

Tie = 5/2

England = 11/10

A player from the SPL Select to score v England?

YES = 11/4

NO = 1/4

A player from the SPL Select to be booked v England?

YES = 11/10

NO = 4/6

A player from the SPL Select to be Sent Off v England?

YES = 5/1

NO = 1/9

Further World Cup ‘Scotland’ Specials

Despite Scotland not being there, here at William Hill we are determined not to have our Scottish punters miss out on the fun so some Scottish related specials have been produced for the World Cup.

“Auld Enemy”

Andy Murray to Win Wimbledon and England to lose in the World Cup Final = 53/1

“Great Britain”

Andy Murray to Win Wimbledon and England to win the World Cup = 53/1

The Old Firm Connection

Rangers and Celtic both have a few players at the tournament.

Rangers have Maurice Edu and DeMarcus Beasley from the USA and Madjid Bougherra from Algeria alongside former favourites Craig Moore (Australia), Gio Van Bronkhorst (Holland), Pedro Mendes (Portugal), Sotirios Kyrgiakos (Greece) and Gennaro Gattuso (Italy).

In the Green Corner Celtic have Georgios Samaras (Greece), Ki Sung-Yong (South Korea), Edson Braafheid (Holland), Larry N’Guemo (Cameroon) plus former players Shunsuke Nakamura (Japan), Chris Killen (New Zealand) and Michael McGlinchy (New Zealand)

Despite the numerical advantage The Celtic Connection are favourites to outscore their Rangers counterparts.

Who will score the most goals at the World Cup

Celtic Connection = 10/11

Rangers Connection = 5/2

Tie = 5/2

The opening ties in the World Cup also have some Scottish Connections

“MACBETH”

When South Africa line up in the opener against Mexico in their midfield will be the holding midfielder Macbeth Sibaya.

Macbeth Sibaya to Score = 12/1

Macbeth Sibaya to Score First = 33/1

Macbeth Sibaya to be Booked = 7/2

Macbeth Sibaya to be Sent Off = 33/1

“SCOTTI”

In the Uruguayan squad against France will be defender Andres Scotti.

Andres Scotti to Score = 12/1

Andres Scotti to Score First = 33/1

Andres Scotti to be Booked = 10/3

Andres Scotti to be Sent Off = 25/1

“REPEAT OF 1950”

The USA recorded one of their most famous victories in 1950 when they defeated England 1-0. Strangley enough that day the Americans were captained by player born in Scotland.

Fast Forward 60 years and the countries meet again and with a strange twist of fate, lining up in the USA midfield will be Aberdeen born Stuart Holden.

USA to win 1-0 = 12/1

Stuart Holden to Score = 7/1

Stuart Holden to Score First = 20/1

USA to score First = 5/2

The last 3 times the sides have met England scored exactly two goals

England to score exactly 2 goals = 11/5

Rooney to Score 2 or more = 7/2
