Arsenal Fan Cheering Despite Defeat As He Bags £31,638.47

Arsenal may have been defeated by Manchester United on Sunday, but there was one Gooner who was celebrating well into the early hours. An Irish William Hill punter (and avid Arsenal fan) from Stockport bagged a whopping £31,638.47 from a £10 stake. The punter, who usually bets £10 a week on the football, put all of his eggs in one basket and predicted 14 games in which both teams would score including Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to United.

The 28 year old punter has only lived in the UK for 7 months and chose to do the ‘Will Both Teams Score?’ coupon for the very first time on Sunday. “This is the first time that I have played this coupon and I will certainly be having a little punt on it next weekend.”

The ‘Will Both Teams Score?’ coupon is one of William Hill’s fastest growing coupons despite only having been around for just over two years. “The coupon is incredibly popular because the bet lasts for 90 minutes of each match,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. The bet paid out at odds of 3163/1 and is the largest payout that Hills have made on that coupon this season.

“About a year ago, we had a horrific weekend where every Premier League team scored and this is our biggest pay out on this coupon since then,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Red Mist On The Tyne Hampers Arsenal’s Chance To Steal A March

Newcastle and Arsenal shared the spoils on the opening day of the season and Arsenal have been pushed out to 12/1 to win the Premier League with William Hill. In a fiery affair, there was one red card for Arsenal and could have been another with Joey Barton involved in both incidents. Hills offer 6/5 that Arsenal receive between one and three red cards this season and 7/4 that they get four or five. Joey Barton on the other hand is odds on, at 4/6 to receive no red cards this season and is 5/6 to still be at Newcastle at the end of the summer transfer window and 5/6 that he is not. An uninspiring draw will not have improved Arsenal fan’s dim view on Arsene Wenger’s transfer policy and he is 5/2 to have left his job by the final day of this season.

“Arsene’s men lost their heads once again at St James’ Park and came away with a draw,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “While not a disastrous result, the craft of Fabregas and Nasri was sorely missed and Wenger may have to splash the cash quite soon.”

Elsewhere, Liverpool’s odds of 10/1 were eased to 12/1 following a home draw against Sunderland.
