Giroud 20/1 To Top Score In Debut Season

Olivier Giroud has signed for Arsenal today and the French striker is 20/1 with William Hill to take the English game by storm and be this season’s top goal scorer in the Premier League with Arsenal 6/1 to be crowned champions in May.

Giroud is Arsene Wenger’s second signing in attack this summer with Lukas Podolski already signed before Euro 2012. Podolski is 6/4 to net more goals than Giroud in his debut season with Giroud at 1/2 to outscore his German counterpart.

With all the new signings in attack thus far for The Gunners, the future of Robin Van Persie still stands in the balance. Hill’s believe the Arsenal captain could go either way with it being 5/6 he stays and 5/6 he doesn’t. If he does go, Manchester City are 6/4 to pick up the Dutchman. Juventus are 3/1, Manchester United are 6/1 and Real Madrid are quoted at 10/1.

Despite the positive signings at the Emirates, the Gunners are fancied to end up trophy less come May. William Hill have them at 1/4 to pick up no trophies, 25/1 for a Premier League and FA Cup double and 1000/1 for a clean sweep of the FA Cup, the Capital One Cup, the Premier League and the Champions League.

“Giroud is a positive signing from Wenger but whether Van Persie stays or not is vital. A bit of luck, keeping RVP, an injury free campaign and a full return to fitness and form for Jack Wilshere is still needed to convince people that Arsenal are serious challengers,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Arsenal Put Up Fight But Fall Short…chelsea Ease Into Last Eight Of Fa Cup

Arsenal fought bravely but fell just short as they aimed to conquer the mountain that was a four goal deficit against AC Milan. Before the game, William Hill punters piled into Arsenal – to win the match (23/20), to qualify (20/1) and to win 5-0 (125/1), all amounting to liabilities of well over £1 million.

“As Van Persie’s penalty hit the back of the net, I have to say we were torn,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “It would have been fantastic to have witnessed such an epic comeback, but at the same time, we would have been on the receiving end of a seven figure walloping.”

Hills think that Arsene Wenger’s side showed such guts to get back to 4-3 and Hills think that they could well ride the crest of such a good performance, offering 8/15 that they finish in the top four of the Premier League, to continue their rich tradition in the Champions League. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain ran himself to a standstill during the game and William Hill are offering 5/4 that he makes it into the England squad for the European Championships.

Progression in the Champions League would have been the only thing to keep alive Arsenal’s hopes of ending their six year drought without a trophy, but Hills think that they could make up for that, offering 2/1 that they win at least one piece of silverware next season.

For the first time, Robin van Persie has moved to odds on (8/11) that he is no longer at Arsenal on the first day of next season (he is even money to still be there).

Wenger 1st day of next season: 2/5 yes 7/4 no

CHELSEA FA CUP

Chelsea eased through to the quarter finals of the FA Cup despite a tricky first half under Roberto Di Matteo and William Hill make them 11/4 to win the cup behind 5/2 joint favourites Liverpool and Tottenham. Fernando Torres endured yet another tricky match and Hills make him 11/8 to have left the club before the start of next season.

Pass Master Backed For England Top Job…you Bet Tevez To Play Again For City!

Pep Guardiola has been backed in from 50/1 to 10/1 third favourite to become the next England boss with William Hill. Despite the plunge in his odds, Harry Redknapp remains the 4/11 favourite to get the gig on a permanent basis.

“With Barcelona losing at the weekend and falling 10 points behind Real Madrid in La Liga, Guardiola could well be on his way from the Nou Camp,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “And there would be no England fan that would complain should the national side start playing like Barca.”

Carlos Tevez has now been backed in from 5/6 to 1/2 to play at any point during the season for Manchester City (6/4 not to). “Having originally been offered at 7/4, it has been pretty much one way traffic, with punters thinking that Tevez may be offered yet another chance by Roberto Mancini,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Thierry Henry scored a hat-trick for Arsenal against Inter Milan at the San Siro nine years ago and Hills offer 50/1 that he parts the Gooners having scored three goals on Wednesday. Alex Oxlade Chamberlain has been on top form over the course of the last few weeks and William Hill are offering 11/8 that he makes the Euro 2012 squad (8/15).

Arsenal have won on their previous two visits to the San Siro and Hills offer 11/4 that they win again on Wednesday. 5/1 is offered for them to win with Robin van Persie to score. AC Milan are 11/10 to win and the draw is 21/10.

Next Permanent England manager: 4/11 Harry Redknapp; 6/1 Stuart Pearce; 10/1 Pep Guardiola; 11/1 Guus Hiddink; 12/1 Roy Hodgson; 14/1 Jose Mourinho; 20/1 Martin O’Neill; 25/1 Arsene Wenger; 25/1 Rafa Benitez; 33/1 BAR

Gamble On Arsene To Stay At Arsenal…fa Cup Specials

Arsenal fans have been rallying around Arsene Wenger since their humiliating midweek defeat and in the last 48 hours, his odds of still being at the club have been backed from 8/11 to 8/13 with William Hill. Hills have also seen support for both Wenger and Robin van Persie to still be at Arsenal on the first day of next season, offered at 15/8 having previously been 2/1 (3/1 to leave). Theo Walcott has been pinpointed as one of the main underperformers at Arsenal this season and he is 7/2 to have left Arsenal by the first day of next season.

“It is safe to say that Arsene Wenger has not enjoyed the best of seasons since taking over at Arsenal but we think that he has the backing of the fans if the weight of money for him to stay is anything to go by,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Andre Villas Boas is under considerable pressure at Chelsea, although the odds of him still being there at the start of next season have come in slightly to 4/7, while Harry Redknapp is odds-against at 2/1 to still be at Spurs by the same day.
