Punters Pick England To Beat Bulgaria

Despite the woeful World Cup and the current injury crisis bookmakers William Hill have been astounded by the overwhelming support for England with nine in ten William Hill shop punters backing the Three Lions for victory tomorrow.

The trend continues online where the favourite’s odds of 3/10 have not put punters off, with 95% of bets being fielded for England.

England are just 7/1 to win every Group game and 2/5 to win Group G. With qualification looking like an almost certainty, Hills have opened a book on what stage of Euro 2012 England will be eliminated. The team are 7/2 to get knocked out in the Group stages, 9-4 for a Quarter Final exit and the same price to get knocked out in the Semis

In the overall betting England are the 9/1 fourth favourite behind 7-2 favourites Spain.

“English fans are notoriously patriotic, but even we have been astounded by the level of support for Capello’s men who have not repaid the faith of late,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Little To Choose From In Scottish Match

There is little to choose from between Scotland and Lithuania with William Hill struggling to separate the two sides as they prepare to meet in Kaunas. Scotland are the narrow 8/5 favourites ahead of 7/4 Lithuania. The draw is just 11/5.

Kenny Miller and Kris Boyd are the 6/1 joint favourites to score first for Scotland, with Wolves’ Stephen Fletcher the 7/1 third favourite.

Scotland are the 12/1 third favourites to win Group I behind Spain at 1/8 and the Czech Republic 6/1. Hills make Scotland 7/2 to qualify and 1/6 not to.

Punters Not Keen On Wales

William Hill believe that Wales are facing an uphill battle in Montenegro. The hosts are the 10/11 red-hot favourites while Wales are 16/5 to gain victory. The draw is priced at 23/10.

Wales are 20/1 to win their group and are 9/1 to qualify for Euro 2012.

You Bet World Cup Will Smash Gambling Records

YOU BET WORLD CUP WILL SMASH GAMBLING RECORDS
A FOOTBALL FAN who flew to London purely to place a bet of 85,000 US dollars on a World Cup accumulative wager involving six countries either to qualify or not to qualify from the Group stages of the tournament will collect 199,750 US dollars if the bet is successful.
‘The gentleman told shop staff that he had flown to the country purely to place this bet’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe, ‘We’re delighted that he wasn’t booked with a strike-affected BA flight or one affected by volcanic ash and managed to get here – maybe we won’t be so keen to see him again if the bet wins!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
For the bet to win – Argentina, Germany and Italy must all qualify from the Group stages while Algeria, Japan and Honduras fail to do so.
And Hills, who are confident that for the first time a record £1 billion+ will be gambled on the World Cup have also taken a £10,000 bet on Italy winning the World Cup from a Scottish client in Glasgow. ‘The bet was placed over the telephone at odds of 16/1’ added Sharpe.
One William Hill client, from Lytham St Annes in Lancashire, has staked an £8824 double on Brazil winning the World Cup this year AND in 2014 – at odds of 16/1, which will win him £150,008 if it comes off. The same punter has also staked a £5173 double on Argentina to win this year – going on to Brazil to win in 2014 at odds of 28/1, also set to produce a return of £150,017.
Another client has bet 10,000 euros on Germany to win the World Cup at 14/1.
‘The World Cup will smash all gambling records, becoming the first sporting event to produce a £1billion-plus betting turnover.’ said Sharpe.
