The anonymous gambler, who placed his bet via a letter to the bookie, has staked an £8824 double on Brazil winning the World Cup this year AND in 2014 – at odds of 16/1, which will win him £150,008 if it comes off.
The same punter has also staked a £5173 double on Argentina to win this year – going on to Brazil to win in 2014 at odds of 28/1, also set to produce a return of £150,017.
‘There is little doubt that our client is convinced that Brazil are certainities to win the World Cup when it is held in their country in 2014, and believes that either they or Argentina can set up a huge payout by winning in South Africa – he is obviously a most patient punter, too!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
