Europa League: You Bet Brits Could Be Major Players This Year
The Europa League group stages kick off on Thursday evening and William Hill make Tottenham the 5/4 favourites to be the British side to progress the furthest with Fulham 11/4. Spurs are the current 10/1 second favourites behind Paris St Germain to lift the trophy, although Hills are offering 2/1 that the winner comes from the Champions League. It would appear that Birmingham and Celtic have the toughest tasks of the British sides with them both being made odds on to fail to get through the group stages, both offered at 4/7 to exit at the first.
Despite being a lesser competition than the Champions League, the odds suggest that if some of the British teams play their strongest sides then they could well be major players this year, said Hills spokesman Joe Crilly.
