High Rollers Bank On Italy And Spain To Get Them Out Of Euro Bother

It is one nil to the bookie at Euro 2012 so far but William Hill are fearing their first real hammering of the tournament on Thursday. With a number of draws in high profile games so far, the punters are looking to hot favourites Spain and Italy to thump their Group C rivals, Ireland and Croatia. Over 90% of all bets on the Ireland/Spain game have been for Vincente Del Bosque’s men (1/4) while Italy (6/5) have been received almost 70% of all bets in their match against Croatia. The double pays 7/4 and is expected to be well backed.

“The two sides have been extremely well backed and by tomorrow, either side could represent seven figure liabilities by the time the games kick off,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “These are two European bankers that our punters are putting faith in and we could need a bail out should they do the double.”

Group C Prices:
6/5 Italy; 12/5 Croatia; 11/5 draw
1/4 Spain; 11/1 Rep of Ireland; 9/2 draw

Group C winner: 5/6 Spain; 11/4 Croatia; 11/4 Italy; 40/1 Rep of Ireland

Group C to qualify (not to): 1/5 Spain (10/3); 8/13 Italy (6/5); 8/11 Croatia (1/1); 9/1 Ireland (1/20)

What will happen to Balotelli first vs Croatia: 5/2 finish the match; 5/2 receive a yellow card; 20/1 receive a straight red card; 4/1 Score; 4/6 subbed

Balotelli match bet vs Croatia: 5/4 Cards; 5/2 goals; 13/10 tie

Topsy Turvey Torres Tipped To Start Tomorrow

Fernando Torres was axed by Vincente Del Bosque for Spain’s victory midweek and Andre Villas-Boas has claimed he will not hesitate to drop the striker should his poor club form continue. Bookies, William Hill are offering odds on which will be the first game that he finds himself on the bench (or worse). He is 9/2 to miss Saturday’s match against Sunderland and 11/2 to miss the match against Leverkusen midweek. Torres is 14/1 to fail to start any of the next three games.

“Torres is certainly under pressure to start scoring, but the odds certainly indicate that he will be given a few more starts in order to find his form,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills are also betting on how many Premiership goals Torres will get this season and make the favourite between six and 10 at 2/1. The days when Torres used to score 20 plus goals a season seem a long way away at the moment, but he is 8/1 to bag over 20 this season. He is 11/10 to get his first Premier League goal of the season against Sunderland and 7/2 that it comes against Manchester United.
