You Bet: What Will Diego Mad-adona Do At The World Cup?

Argentina manager, Diego Armando Maradona is without doubt the most colourful character at this year’s World Cup in South Africa.

From the ‘hand of god’ to his drug fuelled lifestyle, Maradona has courted controversy throughout his career, and William Hill believe his footballing faux-pas will continue at this year’s World Cup.

The bookies have created a list of Mad-adona World Cup specials – including odds of 6-1 for him to be sent off during a World Cup match, and 25-1 for him to be arrested during his time in South Africa.

The flawed genius has also promised to run through the streets Buenos Aires naked if Argentina win the World Cup. Hills think anything is possible when it comes the man nicknamed ‘Pelusa’ (the dishevelled one), and they are offering odds of just 10-1 for him to shed his clothes on his return to the Argentine capital.

The betting firm have also opened a market on whether or not he’ll keep his ‘God’ like beard for duration of Argentina’s matches in the group stage. They are offering odds of 1-5 he keeps the beard, and 10-3 he shaves it off.

William Hill’s spokesman Tony Kenny said “Maradona is no stranger to controversy on and off the pitch, and he’s likely to do anything at this year’s World Cup.”

William Hill – Maradona Specials
6-1 Diego Maradona to be sent off during a World Cup match
10-1 Diego Maradona to run through the streets of Buenos Aires naked after Argentina win the World Cup
20-1 Diego Maradona to assault a member of the media during the World Cup
20-1 Diego Maradona to get in a fist fight with one of his own players during the World Cup (Does not include play fighting)
25-1 Diego Maradona to resign as Argentina coach while they are still in the World Cup
25-1 Diego Maradona to be arrested for any reason during the World Cup
50-1 Diego Maradona to be banned by FIFA for smoking a Cuban cigar on the touchline

What a Beardo!

Hills have S A frica at 150/1 to win the tournament, with Mexico 80/1. ‘That was a great opening match – and a great result for the bookies – both sides are still in with a shout and the first game is a draw – always the bookies’ favourite result’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Fabio Photo Rant Sparks Quit Gamble

FABIO PHOTO RANT SPARKS QUIT GAMBLE

FOLLOWING Fabio Capello’s showdown with photographers, William Hill have had to cut their odds about the England boss quitting during the World Cup from 16/1 to 12/1.
‘Fabio’s rant demonstrated the pressure he is obviously feeling, as have one or two of his touchline outbursts in recent games. Given his evident uncertainty about deciding who will be starting in goal, some punters are taking the hint that should England perform disappointingly Fabio may well react explosively and walk away from the job in frustration’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
ENGLAND ARE 8/1 FOURTH FAVOURITES TO WIN THE WORLD CUP WITH WILLIAM HILL WHO PREDICT A WORLD RECORD £1 BILLION WILL BE GAMBLED ON A SPORTING EVENT FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Spain are 4/1 favourites with Hills who make Brazil 9/2; Argentina 13/2. (Others on request)

You Bet World Cup Will Smash Gambling Records

YOU BET WORLD CUP WILL SMASH GAMBLING RECORDS
A FOOTBALL FAN who flew to London purely to place a bet of 85,000 US dollars on a World Cup accumulative wager involving six countries either to qualify or not to qualify from the Group stages of the tournament will collect 199,750 US dollars if the bet is successful.
‘The gentleman told shop staff that he had flown to the country purely to place this bet’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe, ‘We’re delighted that he wasn’t booked with a strike-affected BA flight or one affected by volcanic ash and managed to get here – maybe we won’t be so keen to see him again if the bet wins!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
For the bet to win – Argentina, Germany and Italy must all qualify from the Group stages while Algeria, Japan and Honduras fail to do so.
And Hills, who are confident that for the first time a record £1 billion+ will be gambled on the World Cup have also taken a £10,000 bet on Italy winning the World Cup from a Scottish client in Glasgow. ‘The bet was placed over the telephone at odds of 16/1’ added Sharpe.
One William Hill client, from Lytham St Annes in Lancashire, has staked an £8824 double on Brazil winning the World Cup this year AND in 2014 – at odds of 16/1, which will win him £150,008 if it comes off. The same punter has also staked a £5173 double on Argentina to win this year – going on to Brazil to win in 2014 at odds of 28/1, also set to produce a return of £150,017.
Another client has bet 10,000 euros on Germany to win the World Cup at 14/1.
‘The World Cup will smash all gambling records, becoming the first sporting event to produce a £1billion-plus betting turnover.’ said Sharpe.

ROONEY SPARKS £1 BILLION GAMBLE

PATRIOTIC PUNTERS backing England to bring the World Cup home have sparked the biggest gamble of all time, say bookmakers William Hill.

And the nightmare scenario for bookies will be an England win – after a huge patriotic punt left betting shops facing mega payouts should England finally break their run of 44 years without a major trophy.
‘Despite Rio’s terrible injury we have been knocked over in the rush to back England to win the tournament at 8/1 today’added Sharpe.’Punters believe Rooney is the key to victory and are backing him to be England’s top scorer at 11/8 and the tournament’s top scorer at 10/1’
WILLIAM HILL make Spain 4/1 favourites to win the World Cup, and also offer 9/2 Brazil; 13/2 Argentina; 8/1 England; 10/1 Holland; 14/1 Germany; 16/1 Italy; 18/1 France.
