You Bet Giggs And Beckham Will Be Rolling Back The Years This Summer

Craig Bellamy has let slip that he is reportedly one of the over 23 players who is being included in Stuart Pearce’s Team GB side. William Hill are now speculating who the others will be, making David Beckham and Ryan Giggs the two favourites. Beckham, who was so instrumental in getting the Games to London, is 1/6 to be included in the 18 man squad while Giggs is 4/7. Other names believed to be under consideration are Joe Cole (9/4), Steven Fletcher (6/1) and Chris Brunt (4/1).

“With a combined age of 75, it will take an Olympian effort for Giggs and Beckham to play every minute of every game in London this summer,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “But you don’t win gold medals with just effort and there is no doubting that the pair could well make the difference in London.”

Craig Bellamy is 100/1 to win this year’s Sports Personality of the Year.

To be in the GB Olympic squad:

Beckham: 1/6 yes; 7/2 no
Giggs: 4/7 yes; 5/4 no
Joe Cole: 9/4 yes; 1/3 no
Fletcher: 6/1 yes; 1/12 no
Brunt: 4/1 yes; 1/7 no

Mens Football winner: 15/8 Brazil; 9/4 Spain; 6/1 GB; 6/1 Switzerland; 8/1 Uruguay; 12/1 Mexico; 40/1 Japan; 40/1 South Korea; 50/1 BAR

Roy’s Boys Are On Their ‘way…9/1 For Tournament

Ashley Young scored the only goal to secure a victory for Roy Hodgson in his first game in charge of England and William Hill make him 66/1 to be the leading scorer in this year’s Euros. The Man United midfielder is also 13/2 (from 8/1) to be England’s leading scorer in the tournament. England were very regimented under Hodgson and defended well after taking the lead and Hills make them 9/1 to win two or three of their group games by one goal to nil.

“Tonight represented England’s first win in Norway since 1966, could that be an omen?” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “A much more solid looking England team can be backed at 9/1 to win the tournament.”

The line up against Norway was very experimental and Hills offer Even money that three or fewer of the starting XI start against France.

After Andy Carroll lead the line well against Norway, he is 8/15 to start against France with Defoe 4/1 and Welbeck 13/8.

Uncapped England Stars Backed To Grab Caps…goal-line Technology Just 2/1 For Next Season

James Milner and Joleon Lescott took the press conference today and while Lescott looks certain to start, James Milner looks less likely, with William Hill making him 4/9 to start the match on the bench (13/8 to start match on pitch). With Roy Hodgson confirming that Wayne Rooney will not be taking part in any of the game on Saturday, Hills are betting on who will start up front and with Danny Welbeck suffering with a slight injury, Hills make Andy Carroll 1/6 to lead the line, while Jermain Defoe is 6/4 to do so.

There will be three uncapped players who will be hoping to make an impact in Norway (Martin Kelly, John Ruddy and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain) and Hills offer 2/1 that all three win their first caps while 10/1 is offered that none of them do.

It has been confirmed that goal-line technology will be used for England’s home game against Belgium on the 2nd June and William Hill are offering 2/1 (from an original 6/1) that it is introduced into the Premier League by the start of next season (it is 4/11 for it to not be in place).

“The move towards getting goal-line technology appears to be gathering momentum and we are now the shortest price ever for it to be introduced next season,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

James Milner to start vs Norway: 4/9 no; 13/8 yes

Start up front:
Carroll: 1/6 yes; 7/2 no
Defoe: 6/4 yes; 1/2 no

Uncapped players to earn a cap vs Norway (Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kelly, Ruddy): 10/1 none; 2/1 one; 8/13 two; 2/1 three

Bad Boy Barton Backed For No Reprieve…

Bad Boy Barton Backed For No Reprieve…

Joey Barton, today received a 12 match ban for his shenanigans at the end of last season and bookmakers William Hill are betting on what the outcome will be at the culmination of the inevitable appeal that will take place. Barton will undoubtedly feel aggrieved at the extent of his ban and Hills are offering 11/8 that the 12 matches are decreased. It is even money that the ban stays the same and 4/1 that it is increased.

“Barton gives the impression that he has turned over a new leaf,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “It seems as though the FA, however, have taken a dim view as to his antics in the last game of the season and we reckon his ban will remain as it is regardless of appeal.”
