Torres Odds-on To Fill Drogba’s Boots, Hulk 4/1 To Do So

Didier Drogba has announced his intention to leave Chelsea and William Hill are betting on who will start Chelsea’s first game of next season and make Fernando Torres 1/2 to fill the Drogba shaped hole on Chelsea’s front line. Other names thrown into the mix are Lukaku 11/4, Hulk 4/1, Falcao and Cavani both 6/1, Llornete at 12/1 and Lavezzi 14/1.

“Drogba has been the big-Drog at Chelsea for the last eight years and whoever fills the gap has very big boots to fill and although Torres has struggled since moving to Chelsea, the odds suggest that he will be taking up the reins,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Drogba Backed To Stay At Chelsea But Who Else Is Sniffing Around?

Didier Drogba may be out of contract at Chelsea, but William Hill do not think that necessarily mean that the talismanic striker will be leaving Stamford Bridge, offering Even money that he starts next season at the Blues. Barcelona have reportedly targeted Drogba and have said they would be willing to offer a two year contract to the player and they are the 2/1 second favourites to take the Ivorian for the start of next season. Hills also offer 5/1 that he signs for Real Madrid and the same price that he goes to PSG. Another option could be for him to join his former teammate, Nicolas Anelka in China and he is 6/1 to sign for a side over there, while Manchester City are 12/1.

“Despite his advancing years, Drogba is still coveted by the top teams around the world and should Chelsea fail to offer him what he wants, there will be no lack of suitors for him this summer,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Odds:

End Of The Chelsea Pensioners…ash Dives To Splash Everton…pepe 6/1 To See Red

Much has been made of the fact that Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba, despite their impressive performances against Barcelona, could be on their way from Chelsea at the end of the season. William Hill are offering 11/4 (Lampard) and 11/10 (Drogba) that they have left by the time the 2012/13 Premier League season kicks off. Chelsea face Arsenal without Wednesday night’s talisman and Hills think that they could struggle with Robin van Persie 6/4 to outscore Fernando Torres.

“If Di Matteo gets the Chelsea job on a full time basis he may want to keep these seasoned pros for one more season but it is inevitable that all good things have to come to an end and the Blues may dispense of them to make way for younger players,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Ashley Young that he could earn himself a reputation if his theatrical antics continue but despite this William Hill are offering 10/1 that the Reds’ winger wins his side a penalty against Everton to make it three in three home matches.

One of the most important El Clasicos in recent years takes place on Saturday and William Hill are expecting a feisty affair, offering just 11/10 that there is a red card during the match. The main perpetrator of El Clasico shenanigans, Pepe, is 6/1 to see red during the game. Currently, Ronaldo and Messi are tied on 41 goals in La Liga but William Hill are offering 8/11 that the Real Madrid flyer bags more than his Barcelona counterpart between now and the end of the season (Even money that he does not).

Crouch 6/4 For Goal Of Season As Pards 9/1 Boss Of Year

WILL CROUCH STOOP TO CONQUER IN GOAL OF SEASON AWARD?

PETER CROUCH’S stunning strike against Manchester City is a 6/4 chance with William Hill to win Match of the Day’s Goal of the Season award. ‘We think it will take something special to stop Crouch lifting the Award, but there are plenty of games still to be played, and we’re also offering 1/ 2 that someone beats him’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

PARDS 9/1 FOR BOSS OF YEAR

ALAN PARDEW is 9/1 with William Hill to be voted LMA Manager of the Year this season. Hills make Brendan Rodgers 3/1 favourite and also offer 5/1 Fergie; 6/1 Lambert; 7/1 Moyes; 9/1 Mancini; Pardew; 12/1 Redknapp. Others on request. ‘Several managers have been outstanding so far this season and we could see one of the less feted bosses taking the honour’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

HILLS NOW MAKE NEWCASTLE 4/9 TO FINISH ABOVE LIVERPOOL.
Who will finish higher in the PL 2011/12? Liverpool 13/8Newcastle 4/9

T4 Finish – 1/12 Arsenal; 1/6 Spurs; 2/1 Chelsea; 16/1 Newcastle; 40/1 Liverpool.

Chelsea finished their draw against Spurs with both Torres and Drogba on the pitch. William Hill are offering 1/2 that Drogba scores more Premier League goals than Fernando Torres between now and the end of the season (6/4 vice versa). Drogba’s long term future at Chelsea is in doubt and he is 5/6 to be there on the first day of next season, the same price to have left by then. Despite his poor recent form, Hills offer 4/11 that Torres is still at Chelsea come the first day of next season -2/1 that he has left.

Robert Mancini is now 2/5 still to be in charge at Manchester City on the first day of next season, 7/4 not to. Another under pressure manager, following defeat by struggling Wigan is Kenny Dalglish – now down to 5/2 to suffer that fate.
Temporary boss, Di Matteo has only been defeated once since taking over at Chelsea and is 11/4 to become permanent. Jose Mourinho is the 9/4 favourite with Pep Guardiola at 7/2.

Chelsea are now 10/1 to overhaul 4/7 favourites, Arsenal, and 6/4 Spurs in the battle to be top London club, while they are 15/8 to make the top four.

Wigan’s shock win shook up the relegation odds. Wolves are 8/11 from Evens to finish bottom, and can be backed at 4/1 to survive. Wigan and QPR are both 1/ 4 to be relegated and 11/4 to survive with Bolton 11/8 and 8/15, Blackburn 9/4 and 1/ 3.

The Africa Cup Of Nations starts on Saturday and with a number of English based players taking part, William Hill are offering 9/4 that eleven or more goals in the tournament are scored by Premier League players. Two Premier League players in Didier Drogba and Demba Ba are the first and second favourites at 4/1 and 6/1 respectively to win the tournament’s Golden Boot and they also head Hill’s top Premier League scorer market at 7/4 and 7/2.

“The Africa Cup of Nations is always an exciting affair and with so many English based players involved is always a huge draw for fans of the British game,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “With the lack of some of the traditional big hitters of African football such as Egypt, Nigeria and Cameroon, the competition could be the most open for some time.”

Carroll Becomes The Main Man For Liverpool…transfer Specials

Luis Suarez started his eight game ban against Manchester City and Andy Carroll will need to come to the party. Hills are betting on how many goals Carroll scores in the next seven matches and make one goal the 5/2 favourite. He is 11/4 to bag two and 7/2 to score three. Carroll is 7/2 to draw a blank in the entirety of Suarez’s absence.

“Andy Carroll has had a difficult start to his Liverpool career and for the first time since arriving at Anfield, he will be the focal point of the side’s attacks for a sustained period of time,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “It is now time for him to start performing and we think that while he may not sparkle, he should get a couple of goals for the cause.”

Jermain Defoe was on target for Spurs as they defeated West Brom and William Hill think that he will remain a Spurs player come the end of the transfer window. He is 4/11 to still be at White Hart Lane and 2/1 to have left, with Newcastle the 3/1 favourites to be his next club after Spurs. Defoe is 13/8 to start England’s first Euro 2012 game (4/9 not to) and is 50/1 to be the Euro 2012 leading goalscorer. Spurs’ victory over WBA resulted in another three points in their quest to finish in the top four and Hills make them 2/7 to finish in the Champions League spots.

There are question marks over the futures of two more of English football’s top strikers and Hills offer 11/10 that Bobby Zamora leaves Fulham this window and Even money that Didier Drogba leaves Chelsea in the same time frame. Bolton are the 15/8 favourites to be Zamora’s next club, while there are three Chinese sides (Shanghai Shenhua, Guangzho Evergrande and Dakaub Aerbin) at 3/1 to be Drogba’s next club.

Drogba’s Gain Means More Torres Pain…11/2 Torres Not To Net In 2011

Didier Drogba’s future may hang in the balance with his contract running out at the end of the season but his recent good form has seen William Hill make him 5/6 to still be at Chelsea on the first day of next season. He is currently keeping £50 million man, Fernando Torres, out of the team and while Drogba is 4/9 to start Chelsea’s next game, Torres is odds-on, at 4/6 to be sat on the bench.

“If Drogba continues his current vein of form, Torres could find it very difficult to get back in the team and Villas Boas could find it hard to turn down Drogba’s request for a new contract,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

If Torres’ output does not improve considerably, there is a chance that he could be on his way and Hills offer 9/4 that he is not at Chelsea come the start of next season. He is 11/2 to fail to score again in 2011 and 16/1 to never score a Premier League goal for Chelsea. Another player who has found himself on the fringes of the team at present is Frank Lampard and despite having 18 months to go on his contract, he is 6/5 to be elsewhere come the start of the 2012/13 season.

The pressure seems to have lifted off AVB’s shoulders after two good results and he is 4/6 to still be at Chelsea next season.

To start vs Wigan:

Drogba: 4/9 yes; 13/8 no

Torres: 11/10 yes; 4/6 no

Fernando Torres’ next Premier League goal: 1/1 Wigan (A); 7/2 Tottenham (A); 4/1 Fulham (H); 8/1 Aston Villa (H); 11/2 Fail to score again in 2011

16/1 Torres to never score for Chelsea in the Premier League again

To be at Chelsea on first day of next season:

5/6 Drogba (5/6 no)
1/5 Terry (10/3 no)
8/13 Lampard (6/5 no)
1/3 Torres (9/4 no)

4/6 Andre Villas Boas (11/10 no)
