Capello 8/1 To Quit As Gerrard Favourite To Skipper England At Euros

Capello 8/1 to quit:
GERRARD FAVOURITE TO BE ENGLAND EURO SKIPPER BUT TERRY ODDS-ON TO PLAY

WILLIAM HILL make Steven Gerrard 8/13 favourite to skipper England in their opening Euro ’12 finals match – and they offer 1/ 2 that John Terry will start that game, 6/4 that he will not. Hills are also offering 8/1 that Fabio Capello will stand down as England manager before the Euro finals begin, 1/20 that he does not.
‘The decision to strip Terry of the captaincy potentially raises a number of issues, including the questions of whether Terry will still be selected to play and whether Capello is happy with the decision, possibly taken regardless of his opinion’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WILLIAM HILL – TO START FIRST EURO ’12 MATCH AS ENGLAND SKIPPER:

Steven Gerrard 8/13
Frank Lampard 5/1
Rio Ferdinand 7/1
Scott Parker 8/1
Gareth Barry 9/1
Joe Hart 16/1
Ashley Cole 16/1
Others on request.

Newcastle Odds On Not To Find Ground Sponsor

ASHLEY ODDS-ON TO FAIL TO FIND ST JAMES’ SPONSOR!

WITH MIKE ASHLEY SET TO SELL naming rights to Newcastle’s St James’ Park, bookmakers William Hill have opened a book on whether those rights will actually be sold, and what the ground will be known as.
Hills believe it is unlikely that a stadium name sponsor will come forward and offer 4/7 that the ground name has either NOT changed at all by the first day of next season, or is still known as the Sports Direct Arena.
‘It is one thing putting the naming rights up for grabs, another getting the right deal – and Mr Ashley could conceivably even have changed his mind and sold the club by then’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hill’s make Tesco the most likely sponsor’s name to be added to the ground name, quoting the supermarket chain at 10/1, and also offering:
O2 – 12/1
Northern Rock 20/1
Greggs 33/1
Newcastle Brown 33/1
NE Tourism 50/1
Newcastle Building Society 50/1
Compare The Meerkat/Market 66/1
Tony Blair 100/1
Cheryl Cole 100/1
UK Coal 100/1
Sting Stadium 100/1
Gazza Stadium 500/1
Ant & Dec 1000/1
(others on request)

Rooney Backed For Two Match Ban As Robins 5th Runner To Be Forest Favourite

ROONEY BACKED TO GET TWO MATCH+ EURO BAN

WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds for Wayne Rooney to be banned for two games or more following his sending off against Montenegro from 11/4 to 7/4. ‘We haven’t taken any particularly hefty individual bets but the overwhelming majority of those we have taken are for an extended suspension’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills now offer 2/5 that he will be banned for just the one game.

FIFTH FOREST FAVOURITE

MARK ROBINS is the fifth contender to become favourite to succeed Steve McClaren as Forest manager with William Hil who make the former Barnsley boss 2/1 to take over, ahead of 9/4 second favourite Steve Cotterill; 5/2 Roy Keane; 7/2 Nigel Clough; 11/2 Kevin MacDonald; 9/1 John Pemberton.
‘As seems to be par for the course with so many such markets, the Forest managerial merry-go-round has been a volatile one and you wouldn’t be over surprised if there were another five favourites before the issue is finally resolved’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Not So Fab For Gunners

NOT SO FAB FOR GUNNERS

WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds for Fabregas to leave Arsenal before the first day of the new season from 4/6 to 1/ 2, and now offer 6/4 that he will still be there when the next campaign kicks off. ‘The indications are that Fabregas is steadily moving closer to an Emirates’ exit’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
