Bellamy 5/2 To Celebrate With The ‘mobot’

Of all the things that Craig Bellamy may be remembered for in his career, William Hill will always remember him for the night he celebrated a goal against Barcelona by swinging an imaginary golf club. William Hill had been offering 100/1 and ended up paying out upwards of £50,000 on the day. Hills have decided that they will once again take on the Wales wizard offering 5/2 that Bellamy celebrates scoring for Wales on Wednesday night by doing the ‘Mobot’ or the ‘Lightning Bolt’.

“We offered 100/1 that he would do the golf swing celebration back in 2007 and we are now ready to take him on again albeit at a slightly more reserved price of 5/2,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Bellamy has just been at the Olympics and he may have picked up a few celebration tips from his fellow athletes.”

Brave(?) Punter Backs Liverpool To The Tune Of £44,000

William Hill took their biggest pre-season bet so far as one gutsy punter in Liverpool put down £44,000 on his side to win the league (£22,000 e/w). The man, in his mid thirties and a Liverpool fan, backed his side at 25/1 and William Hill have now cut their odds to 16/1 for them to win the title. Should Liverpool win the League he will scoop £777,333.33 and should they finish second, he will pick up £205,333.33.

“The football has gone largely unnoticed while the Olympics has been going on although there has been a steady stream of bets on Liverpool winning the title, mainly from the North West,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly. “There has not been that much movement in or out of Anfield this summer but despite this, Liverpool now constitute around 40% of all stakes that we have taken on the Premier League winner market.”

English Premier League winner: 6/5 Manchester City; 5/2 Manchester City; 5/1 Chelsea; 12/1 Arsenal; 16/1 Liverpool; 25/1 Tottenham; 150/1 BAR

Daniel To Sturr Up Gb

As Team GB prepare for their quarter final on Saturday against South Korea William Hill think that recent performances should give cause to be hopeful for British football fans. Hill’s are 5/4 that GB win in 90 minutes and odds on at 8/15 to qualify.

Daniel Sturridge scored the only goal of the game as GB beat Uruguay in Cardiff on Wednesday and he looks likely to the lead the line again against South Korea. He is 9/2 to score first, with Craig Bellamy a 6/1 chance. Sunderland youngster Ji Dong Won is an 8/1 chance to score first against Pearce’s GB. Arsenal’s Ju Young Park is a 7/1 chance.

“South Korea have made it to the Quarter finals only scoring in one game but they can be dangerous. GB are growing in confidence and they beat a team of genuine quality against Uruguay. A semi final place should now be expected,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Gb 1/3 To Not Take Part In 2016 Olympics Football

More penalty heartache for followers of British football and William Hill are offering 1/3 that they do not take part in the 2016 Games (9/4 that they do).

“There was a lot of discussion before these Games as to whether Team GB would take part and considering they have only played five games together, the project could be deemed a success, but despite that, it appears a 2016 reunion is pretty much out of the question,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Allen Unlikely To Push Liverpool To The Summit

Liverpool have reportedly had a bid for Swansea midfielder Joe Allen rejected as Brendan Rodgers goes back to his old club to pick up the midfield maestro. He may not have signed yet but William Hill have him at 2/1 to start 26 or more games for the Anfield club this season, 11/4 between 21 and 25, 11/4 between 16 and 20 and 11/4 between 11 and 15. It is 9/2 that he starts less than ten games.

Despite Brendan Rodgers’ appointment as the Reds’ manager they are still expected to come up short in the race for Champions League football. They are 4/7 to finish between fifth and tenth, 11/5 for between second and fourth and 10/1 to finish between 11th and 17th. It is 25/1 that Liverpool win the Premier League and 80/1 that they will be playing Championship football in 2013/14.

“Allen is the kind of pace dictating midfielder that Rodgers likes in his teams and it is fully expected that Liverpool will go back to Swansea with another offer,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Gareth Bale has come in for criticism after he scored overnight to help Tottenham to a 1-1 draw at LA Galaxy despite being ruled out of the Olympics through injury. He is 1/10 to start Tottenham’s first game of the Premier League season and 11/2 he doesn’t.

The Come Beck Kid 7/2 To Fulfil Olympic Dream

Stuart Pearce may have not selected David Beckham for the 18 man Olympics football squad but he has hinted that he may well be on the stand by list. He is 7/2 with William Hill to play at the games.

If selected on the stand by list Beckham could only take the place of Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy or Micah Richards due to the restrictions of over age players. Golden Balls is 8/1 to score this summer and it is 14/1 that it is from a free kick. Even more remarkable would be if he captained the team. That is offered at 12/1 with Hills.

“Becks playing at the Olympics would be remarkable even to his own standards. It was a shock to see him omitted from the squad but would be even more shocking if he were to come back. No one wants to play for their country more than Beckham and it would be really good to see him represent Team GB this summer,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

David Beckham Olympics Specials*

7/2: Beckham to play at the Olympics

8/1: Beckham to score at the Olympics

12/1: Beckham to be GB captain

14/1: Beckham to score a free kick at the Olympics

*All of the specials are ‘All in run or not,’ so no money back if Beckham doesn’t go to the Olympics
