Punters And Villas-boas Back Torres To Stay

William Hill punters seem to agree with Andre Villas-Boas’ claims that Fernando Torres will be staying put for the time being, with considerable bets having been staked on him still being at Chelsea on the 1st February. Initially offered at 4/11, the weight of money coupled with Villas-Boas’ strong stance on Torres’ future, has seen this price slashed to 1/5. The majority of the money has come from Northern Ireland and Oxfordshire.

“Torres has endured a difficult first year at Chelsea but it appears that punters’ support matches that of his manager and it seems he will be given time to turn things around,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Malaga are 7/1 to be the club that Torres lines up for after the transfer window closes on and Manchester United are 9/1.

Where will Fernando Torres be on the 1st February 2012: 1/5 Chelsea; 7/1 Malaga; 9/1 Manchester United; 10/1 Atletico Madrid; 11/1 AC Milan; 14/1 PSG; 14/1 Inter Milan; 14/1 Manchester City; 16/1 Barcelona; 16/1 Liverpool; 16/1 Juventus; 20/1 Real Madrid; 25/1 Arsenal

Clark Firm Favourite For Leicester Job In Ongoing Saga

Lee Clark has been backed all the way in to 4/11 to become the next manager of Leicester City. The Huddersfield manager has been the subject of a number of three figure bets that have seen his odds in the last 48 hours tumble from 4/7. The only other contender that has been backed is Mark Hughes and his odds have been halved from 4/1 to 2/1. Nigel Pearson is 7/1 third favourite.

“Given the frequency with which Leicester change their manager, you would be forgiven for thinking that the Foxes board would have streamlined their hiring process but alas, punters are still waiting and Lee Clarke is now the firm favourite,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “It would seem that this one has a long way to go yet however.”

Next Permanent Leicester Manager: 4/11 Lee Clark; 2/1 Mark Hughes; 7/1 Nigel Pearson; 8/1 Kevin Keegan; 10/1 Roy Keane; 10/1 Gordon Strachan; 12/1 Billy Davies; 12/1 Rafael Benitez; 14/1 Martin O’Neill; 14/1 Dougie Freedman; 16/1 Neil Lennon; 20/1 BAR
