Curbs Cut For Villa Boss But Macdonald Still Favourite

William Hill have slashed the price of Alan Curbishley becoming the new Aston Villa manager from 10/1 to 4/1 following an overnight gamble that was sparked by a rumoured meeting with Randy Lerner. Conversely, Kevin MacDonald has been eased out from 4/6 to 5/4. Sven Goran Eriksson is the 5/1 third favourite with Gerard Houllier 10/1. The Mark Hughes gamble has ended and he is now 16/1 from a low of 3/1.

“It looks like Curbs met with Randy Lerner yesterday, so he must be on the shortlist; however the odds seem to suggest that Lerner may well stick with MacDonald,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Next Villa Manager: 5/4 Kevin MacDonald; 4/1 Alan Curbishley; 5/1 Sven Goran Eriksson; 10/1 Gerard Houllier; 11/1 David Moyes; 14/1 Ronald Koeman; 16/1 Alex McLeish; 16/1 Mark Hughes; 20/1 Paul Lambert; 20/1 Martin Jol; 20/1 Jurgen Klinsmann; 20/1 Gary Megson; 20/1 Bob Bradley; 20/1 Gareth Southgate; 20/1 Phil Brown; 25/1 BAR

Sparky Faces Fight To Save Fulham Stars… Becks To Return To East London?

Following the news that Mark Hughes is set to be named as the next permanent Fulham manager, William Hill have opened a book on which of Fulham’s stars will stay and which will go. Mark Schwarzer is 1/4 to have left Fulham amid reported interest from Arsenal. He is 11/4 to still be at Fulham come the end of the transfer window. Captain Danny Murphy is 1/9 to be staying at Fulham. Last season’s Player Of The Year, Bobby Zamora is 1/8 to stay. Elsewhere Paul Konchesky is 6/5 to go, 8/13 to stay and Brede Hangeland is 11/4 to go, 1/4 to stay. If he manages to keep his best players, it appears that Fulham may well have a season very much like the last one. Fulham are 1/16 to stay up, 7/1 to get relegated, 2/1 to finish in the top half and 4/11 to finish in the bottom half.

“Mark Hughes will be hoping that he can hold on to the majority of Fulham’s best players as and if he does, we believe that Fulham could have a decent season,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Odds:

To Leave Fulham Before The End Of The Transfer Window:

Mark Schwarzer: 1/4 Yes; 11/4 No

Brede Hangeland: 11/4 Yes; 1/4 No

Paul Konchesky: 6/5 Yes; 8/13 No

Danny Murphy: 5/1 Yes; 1/9 No

Clint Dempsey: 4/1 Yes; 1/7 No

Bobby Zamora: 9/2 Yes; 1/8 No

David Beckham has promised West Ham that he will give them an answer as to whether he will join them, within the next few days. William Hill make him 4/1 to return to East London, the place of his birth.

“The odds suggest that while it is not certain he will be leaving LA, he is obviously giving it some serious consideration,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Fulham 2/1 For Top Half Finish

Fulham 2/1 for top half finish:

‘SPARKY’ SPECIALS:

WILLIAM HILL make Mark Hughes a 2/1 chance to achieve a top half finish with Fulham – and 25/1 to bring in three or more Man City players to the club before the close of the first transfer window. ‘Hodgson is a tough act to follow, but ‘Sparky’ Hughes is already eyeing a top ten finish – and he won’t have the distraction of the Europa League as Hodgson did. However, we make them odds-on to finish lower than the 12th place Hodgson achieved last campaign’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe. Hills make Fulham 5/1 to finish 12th again this season, 7/4 to finish 11th or higher; 8/13 13th or lower.

Rumours Spark Gamble On Hughes For Fulham Manager!

William Hill have slashed the price of Mark Hughes being named as the next Fulham manager from 5/4 to 2/9 this morning following a massive gamble for him this morning. William Hill Odds: Next Permanent Fulham Manager: 2/9 Mark Hughes; 10/3 Sven Goran Eriksson; 11/1 Dave Jones; 12/1 Lee Clark; 14/1 Jurgen Klinsmann; 16/1 Alan Curbishley; 16/1 Ray Lewington; 20/1 Slaven Bilic; 20/1 Manuel Pelligrini; 20/1 Stuart Baxter; 20/1 Ottmar Hitzfeld; 20/1 Bob Bradley; 25/1 Bar

Sven In Pole Position For Fulham Hot Seat On Slowest Day Of Betting So Far

In the race to be next permanent Fulham manager, William Hill have reported the quietest day since opening the book. Sven Goran Eriksson is the 5/4 favourite, with Dave Jones 3/1 and Mark Hughes at 4/1.

“It has been a very slow day indeed which would suggest that the Fulham directors have gone back to the drawing board and it speaks volumes that Sven tops the market,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Next Fulham Manager: 5/4 Sven Goran Eriksson; 3/1 Dave Jones; 4/1 Mark Hughes; 7/1 Alan Curbishley; 12/1 Ray Lewington; 12/1 Otmar Hitzfeld; 14/1 Gianfranco Zola; 14/1 Bob Bradley; 16/1 Martin Jol; 20/1 Bar

Martin Jol Withdraws From Race…dave Jones New Favourite For Fulham Hot Seat

The long running saga of who will be the next Fulham manager took yet another turn this morning when Martin Jol admitted he was staying with Ajax. This has seen his odds drift from 1/8 to 25/1 at William Hill in the space of four days. Conversely Hills are facing big liabilities on 5/2 favourite Dave Jones taking the hot seat having previously quoted him at up to 25/1. Sven Goran Eriksson also seems keen on a return to the Premiership and is now the 9/2 second favourite. Alan Curbishley and Bob Bradley are the 9/1 joint third favourites.

“Some far sighted punters could be in for a big windfall, having backed Dave Jones at 25/1, but the likely sticking point could prove to be the issue of compensation to Cardiff City. We are expecting this saga to continue for a little while longer and could still see an outsider take the job,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Odds:

Next Fulham Manager: 5/2 Dave Jones; 9/2 Sven Goran Eriksson; 9/1 Alan Curbishley; 9/1 Bob Bradley; 10/1 Mark Hughes; 10/1 Gianfranco Zola; 12/1 Otmar Hitzfeld; 14/1 Ray Lewington; 14/1 Stuart Baxter; 16/1 Lee Clark; 20/1 Bar

VIDEO TECHNOLOGY ODDS SHORTEN AGAIN

WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds about the introduction of goalline video technology by FIFA in time for the 2014 World Cup from 3/1TO 5/2 after Sepp Blatter of FIFA said that the matter would be re-considered. ‘Mr Blatter’s remarks may have been given undue weight as he has not given the slightest encouragement to those who want to see video technology introduced and last time it was considered by FIFA it was firmly rejected.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WORLD WIDE WEBB?

WILLIAM HILL make English ref Howard Webb 2/1 favourite to win the right to handle the World Cup Final. ‘We have always reckoned he’d have a good chance of the Final – we opened up at 6/1 – and with England out his chances have only increased’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

FABIO 11/10 TO BE GONE BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR

WILLIAM HILL are offering odds of 11/10 that Fabio Capello becomes a former England manager during 2010 – ‘He seems to have a fortnight to convince the FA that he is the right man for the job – but even if he does so and then loses his first Euro 2012 qualifier he could be back in trouble’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe. ‘Noone currently wants to bet on anything other than Fabio being out before the end of the year.’
