Clark Quickly Becomes Leeds Favourite…europa League Specials

Lee Clark was sacked by Huddersfield on Wednesday and William Hill have seen plenty of cash for him to become the new manager of Leeds. Just an hour after Huddersfield announced their decision, Clark became Hills 11/8 favourite for the Leeds job with Mick McCarthy 3/1 and Neil Warnock 9/2.

“There is no doubting that Lee Clark is a talented young manager and he swiftly became favourite for the Leeds job as soon as he was relieved of his duties at Huddersfield,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Whether he would jump back into management so soon though is another matter.”

Latest Leeds Boss: 11/8 Lee Clark; 3/1 Mick McCarthy; 9/2 Neil Warnock; 7/1 Steve Bruce; 11/1 Neil Redfearn; 12/1 Billy Davies; 14/1 Dan Petrescu; 14/1 Dave Jones; 20/1 BAR

Europa League

Far far away from the glitz and glamour of the Champions League, Manchester City and United will be kicking off their Europa League campaigns and William Hill think that they could do well in the competition making them 4/1 (City) and 13/2 (United) to win the tournament. Of the three English sides in the competition, Hills think that two of them will progress from this round, offering 5/6 about that happening. Hills go Even money that Manchester United outscore their noisy neighbours (City 7/4 and a tie 13/5).

Stoke could well struggle in their tie against Valencia and Hills offer 4/7 that they are eliminated in at the end of this round of fixtures.

Bookies Cannot Separate League 2 Hopefuls

William Hill cannot separate Stevenage and Torquay as they go head to head for a spot in League One, with both sides offered at 7/4 for victory at Old Trafford. The draw is 2/1. Torquay have kept a clean sheet in seven of their last nine games and Hills are offering 8/5 that they do so during Saturday’s game. Torquay’s Chris Zebroski is the 6/1 favourite to score first, while Stevenage’s Craig Reid and Byron Harrison are both 13/2 to do likewise. Stevenage are 4/5 to lift the trophy, while Torquay are 10/11.

“Just one point separated these two sides at the end of this season and the betting suggests that this game will be nip and tuck all the way,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Huddersfield are the slight 6/4 favourites to defeat 19/10 Peterborough on Sunday, while Swansea just shade the betting for Monday’s Championship match at 17/10 against 9/5 Reading.

Hills are 11/5 that the Stevenage vs Torquay game is the highest scoring game of the three Play-Off matches. Hills offer 13/8 that one of the three games goes to penalties and 3/1 that all three sides promoted via the Play-Offs avoid relegation next season.

Will Play-off Sides Pay The Penalty?

Will Play-Off Sides Pay The Penalty?
Stevenage and Huddersfield are clear favourites for their respective Play-Off final matches, however, bookmakers William Hill cannot separate Swansea and Reading in the Championship match. Stevenage are 7/5 to win against Torquay while Huddersfield are 13/10 to overcome Peterborough. Swansea and Reading however, are both priced at 6/4 to win in 90 minutes on Monday.

Hills are also offering a number of specials for this Bank Holiday weekend’s Play-Off action and make Huddersfield vs Peterborough the 10/11 favourite to be the highest scoring game of the three. No Play-Off weekend would be complete without the agony of a penalty shootout and Hills offer 13/8 that one of the games goes the distance and 66/1 that all three go to penalties.

“The betting indicates that all three of the games will be tight and it would not be surprising to see at least one of the games suffer the agony of a spot kick lottery”, said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

90 minutes betting:
7/5 Stevenage; 8/5 Torquay; 21/10 Draw
