Daniel To Sturr Up Gb

As Team GB prepare for their quarter final on Saturday against South Korea William Hill think that recent performances should give cause to be hopeful for British football fans. Hill’s are 5/4 that GB win in 90 minutes and odds on at 8/15 to qualify.

Daniel Sturridge scored the only goal of the game as GB beat Uruguay in Cardiff on Wednesday and he looks likely to the lead the line again against South Korea. He is 9/2 to score first, with Craig Bellamy a 6/1 chance. Sunderland youngster Ji Dong Won is an 8/1 chance to score first against Pearce’s GB. Arsenal’s Ju Young Park is a 7/1 chance.

“South Korea have made it to the Quarter finals only scoring in one game but they can be dangerous. GB are growing in confidence and they beat a team of genuine quality against Uruguay. A semi final place should now be expected,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Gb 1/3 To Not Take Part In 2016 Olympics Football

More penalty heartache for followers of British football and William Hill are offering 1/3 that they do not take part in the 2016 Games (9/4 that they do).

“There was a lot of discussion before these Games as to whether Team GB would take part and considering they have only played five games together, the project could be deemed a success, but despite that, it appears a 2016 reunion is pretty much out of the question,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Do Football Gods Have More Heartbreak For England Fans In 2012?

2011 was hardly a vintage year for British football, highlighted by the lack of trinkets and nominations for the BBC Sports Personality, but William Hill think that 2012 could be different, offering 7/2 that any footballer wins the 2012 award. With the European Championships taking place in the Summer of 2012, Hills currently make England 7/1 to win the favourites behind Spain 9/4, Germany 7/2 and level with Holland. Germany’s Mario Gomez is the 7/1 favourite to be the tournament’s leading goalscorer just ahead of David Villa, currently out with a fractured leg, at 9/1. Hills also offer 250/1 that the competition’s final is contested between England and the Republic of Ireland.

“With the Euros taking place in an Olympic year, it will be very difficult for the England players to steal the limelight unless they were to win the tournament,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “We think that there are teams more well suited to winning and it could well be another season of heartbreak for English football fans.”

William Hill are also offering 11/4 that 2012 is the year that Sir Alex Ferguson finally steps down from his seat at Manchester United and having experienced tricky starts to their careers Hills offer 4/1 that Fernando Torres returns to Liverpool and 11/2 that Andy Carroll goes back to Newcastle. The record for goals in a Premier League game is 9 and Hills go 10/1 that this is broken in 2012, while 25/1 is offered for any player to break the record of five goals scored by an individual in a single game.

Palace 10/1 For Carling Cup Glory On Bad British Night In Europe

Manchester United were unceremoniously dumped out of the Carling Cup by 7/1 (price to qualify) Crystal Palace and The Eagles are 10/1 to win the Cup with William Hill and 5/4 to qualify from their Semi Final against Cardiff (who are 4/7 to reach Wembley). Manchester City are clear favourites to win the tournament at 5/6 ahead of their Semi Final opponents Liverpool at 6/4.

“With one Championship side guaranteed to be in the Final at Wembley, the two legged Semi between Palace and Cardiff will be an undoubtedly dogged encounter,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “We do think, however, that whoever wins the other Semi will be in with a fantastic chance of lifting the first Silverware of the year.”

A Tottenham defeat was the culmination for a poor night of British football in the Europa League and their odds of winning the competition have drifted from 9/1 to 20/1 to win the competition. Birmingham and Celtic have also drifted from 50/1 to 100/1 (Birmingham) and 100/1 to 125/1(Celtic). All eyes now turn to the two sides who are playing on Thursday to carry the torch for British football with Stoke the Even money favourites to progress furthest of all the Home Nations sides with Fulham the 15/8 second favourites. 50m Final Set To Seal £1bn World Cup Gamble

£50 MILLION FINAL SET TO SEAL £1 BILLION RECORD WORLD CUP GAMBLE

DESPITE England’s absence from the latter stages of the tournament British football fans are set to help swell the betting turnover on the World Cup towards a record £1 billion, while £50million is expected to be staked on Sunday’s Final between Holland and hot favourites Spain.
‘After England crashed out, patriotic football fans had to transfer their affections elsewhere – and they seem to have done so by placing bets on their adopted second favourite country. With England gone, they no longer had automatic loyalty to one country and therefore have used a bet to enhance their enjoyment of matches. And the enormous coverage given to Paul the Psychic Octopus has also kept the tournament in punters’ sights, so we expect a record industry betting turnover for both the Final and the tournament with £1bn and £50m respectively staked’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
SPAIN are 4/7 favourites with William Hill to be crowned as World Champions – thus justifying Paul the Psychic Octopus’ predicition – with Holland the 6/4 outsiders.

**A William Hill Manchester betting shop client stands to collect £424,000 if David Villa, now 8/11 favourite to do so, ends up as tournament top scorer after placing a £30,000 double on Holland to win their Group at 4/7, with Villa at 8/1.

**A William Hill telephone betting client could collect £275,000 for a £50,000 bet on Spain to win the World Cup at 9/2.

**Another Hill’s shop punter in Essex placed a £250 treble on Rafa Nadal and Serena Williams to win their respective Wimbledon singles tournaments, running on to Holland – and will collect £30,000 if the Dutch oblige.

**PUNTERS who have backed every Paul the Psychic Octopus tip so far are £84 better off by staking £10 to win on each one – and over £1000 if they reinvested winnings from each selection on to the next one!
