Pearce’s “old” Boys Could Feature In Future If He Gets Permanent Role

Stuart Pearce allowed Stewart Downing to take the Press Conference for England today and William Hill make the Liverpool winger 33/1 to be England’s captain for their first Euro 2012 game (the same price as Rio Ferdinand). James Milner holds the record for most under 21 appearances, many of which were under Pearce and he is 14/1 to be given the captain’s armband for the France game. Steven Gerrard is the 10/11 favourite although there is a suggestion that should Pearce be in charge at the Euros, he will turn to a number of his U21 stalwarts. Micah Richards is 5/2 to start England’s first game of the tournament, with Kyle Walker 7/4, Danny Welbeck 4/6 and Daniel Sturridge 8/11.

“Pearce knows a lot of these players from his U21 days and he certainly would not have called them up if he thought they would not be up to task,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Frazier Campbell has impressed since returning to action following a year on the touchline and he could mark his miraculous return to form with an England cap. William Hill make him 1/4 to make any form of appearance on Wednesday (11/4 to remain unused).

The match against Holland will be a good test for England against a side who must be confident of reaching the latter stages of the Euros and Hills are offering 12/1 that they meet in the tournament and England qualify.

England Captain for Euro 2012 game vs France: 10/11 Steven Gerrard; 7/4 Scott Parker; 11/2 Joe Hart; 10/1 Frank Lampard; 14/1 Gareth Barry; 14/1 James Milner; 20/1 Ashley Cole; 33/1 Rio Ferdinand; 33/1 Stewart Downing

Manchester City sneaked past Tottenham to secure Champions League football at Eastlands. William Hill are offering 14/1 that City go on to win next season’s Champions League although the odds suggest that they are more likely to be knocked out at the Group Stage stage, offered at 2/1. Roberto Mancini is 4/9 to still be in charge of City come the first game of next season.

“After the investment that has been put into City, they have reached Europe’s top table, but after tonight’s showing, they will need even more over the summer if they have any aspirations of reaching the latter stages of the Champions League,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Andy Carroll has been cut from 7/1 joint favourite to 6/1 clear favourite by William Hill to be the next Premier League player arrested for a new offence following his move to Liverpool. ‘Carroll had his well publicised problems in Newcastle and as a high profile new signing will hardly be able to remain anonymous in and around Liverpool when he is out and about enjoying his social life’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds for no further Premier League manager to leave his club this season from 16/1 to 9/1 following the closure of the transfer window. ‘Obviously several managers are under pressure because of results, but at the moment most bosses appear relatively secure in their positions – even though Avram Grant is, for the sixt time this season, odds-on favourite to be the next boss to go this season’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe, ‘We have also seen a little support for outspoken Ian Holloway, backed from double figure odds in to 6/1 second favourite.’

Dire Night Of Football Brightened By Arsenal Loss…arsene 11/2 To Be Gone By Next Season

Arsenal lost tonight and Chelsea had to come from behind to win, in what were two very scrappy performances from British sides. Chelsea are the 11/8 favourites to progress furthest out of all the British teams with William Hill.

Arsenal, on the other hand, looked as though they had not recovered from their North London hangover and Hills now make them 7/2 to progress the furthest. Their odds of winning the Champions’ League have been eased from 10/1 to 12/1. Arsenal’s defeat saved bookies paying out a fair old wedge but should their current run of poor form continue, Arsene Wenger could find himself under pressure and Hills are offering 11/2 that he has left by the first game of next season. The Gunners are now level on points with tonight’s conquerors and Hills are offering 10/1 that Arsenal fail to qualify for the latter stages of the competition.

“It was a rather underwhelming evening of football but despite this, we are still smiling as Arsenal have saved us a small fortune. We may have numb bums, but we are still happy,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

50m Final Set To Seal £1bn World Cup Gamble

£50 MILLION FINAL SET TO SEAL £1 BILLION RECORD WORLD CUP GAMBLE

DESPITE England’s absence from the latter stages of the tournament British football fans are set to help swell the betting turnover on the World Cup towards a record £1 billion, while £50million is expected to be staked on Sunday’s Final between Holland and hot favourites Spain.
‘After England crashed out, patriotic football fans had to transfer their affections elsewhere – and they seem to have done so by placing bets on their adopted second favourite country. With England gone, they no longer had automatic loyalty to one country and therefore have used a bet to enhance their enjoyment of matches. And the enormous coverage given to Paul the Psychic Octopus has also kept the tournament in punters’ sights, so we expect a record industry betting turnover for both the Final and the tournament with £1bn and £50m respectively staked’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
SPAIN are 4/7 favourites with William Hill to be crowned as World Champions – thus justifying Paul the Psychic Octopus’ predicition – with Holland the 6/4 outsiders.

**A William Hill Manchester betting shop client stands to collect £424,000 if David Villa, now 8/11 favourite to do so, ends up as tournament top scorer after placing a £30,000 double on Holland to win their Group at 4/7, with Villa at 8/1.

**A William Hill telephone betting client could collect £275,000 for a £50,000 bet on Spain to win the World Cup at 9/2.

**Another Hill’s shop punter in Essex placed a £250 treble on Rafa Nadal and Serena Williams to win their respective Wimbledon singles tournaments, running on to Holland – and will collect £30,000 if the Dutch oblige.

**PUNTERS who have backed every Paul the Psychic Octopus tip so far are £84 better off by staking £10 to win on each one – and over £1000 if they reinvested winnings from each selection on to the next one!

6/1 MEGSON TO BE LAST PREM BOSS TO GO THIS SEASON

WILLIAM HILL have opened a book on how many more Premier League managers will follow Gary Megson out of their psitions this season – and offer 6/1 that he will be the last to go. ‘With the January transfer window looming up, clubs may consider that there is little point switching managers afterwards, so if we don’t see more departures within the next few weeks that may just be it for the season. However, chairmen are also capable of coming up with different reasons for disposing of out of favour managers, so I suspect we’ll take plenty of money at 20/1 for another four or more to go – particularly as several clubs appear to have severe financial problems.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Keane On Brink As Messi Tops Champions League Top Scorer Market

WILL IPSWICH FANS STAY KEANE ON ROY?
WITH IPSWICH struggling without a win in the Championship relegation zone, William Hill are offering odds of 5/6 that Roy Keane will cease to be their manager before the end of the season, and 5/6 that he is still in place on the final day of the campaign. ‘Keane was greeted like a conquering hero when he arrived at the club but there are reports of the side being booed off in recent matches and without a win to show for their efforts so far Roy needs a rapid turnaround in form if he is to avoid an ignominious early exit. As our odds suggest we believe that it could go either way for him’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills have cut Ipswich to 8/1 to be relegated from 40/1 at the start of the season. ‘Everyone is assuming that they are too good and have too much money to go down. But the fate of Leeds, Norwich and Southampton suggests that that’s not certain to be the case’ said Sharpe.

MESSI HEADS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TOP SCORER MARKET

WOLFSBURG striker Grafite, who hit a hat trick in his side’s Champions League game in midweek, is now 7/1 second favourite with William Hill to end up as the Champions League top scorer – for which Hills make Messi 13/2 favourite, and also offer: 8/1 Ronaldo; Torres; 9 Benzema; 10 Ibrahimovic; 14 Anelka; Eto’o; Rooney; 20 Drogba; Gerrard; Henry; Raoul. ‘Grafite leads the way, but as 80/1 shots his club may not be around in the latter stages of the tournament. We expect one of the big names to end up as top scorer in the competition’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

**AFTER Arsenal came back from two down to beat Standard Liege, William Hill make them 9/1 to win the Champions League – and 33/1 to meet Chelsea in an all London Final.
**HILLS MAKE ARSENAL 3/1 THIRD FAVOURITES TO GO FURTHEST OF THE PREM TEAMS, WITH CHELSEA 7/4 FAVOURITES; MAN U 9/4 AND LIVERPOOL 10/3 OUTSIDERS.
**William Hill offer 11/10 that a British team will win the Champions League and 3/1 that it will have an all Brit final. Barcelona are now 4/1 favourites to win the Champions League with William Hill who also offer 9/2 Real Madrid; 5/1 Chelsea; 7/1 Man U; 8/1 Inter; 9/1 Arsenal; 10/1 Liverpool; 22/1 Bayern- Juventus; 33 AC, Lyon, Sevilla; 66 Atletico Madrid; 80 Wolfsburg.
**RANGERS ARE 13/8 TO QUALIFY, 4/9 NOT TO, AND 250/1 TO WIN THE TOURNAMENT.
20/1 CHAMPIONSHIP BIG THREE TO BOUNCE BACK
WILLIAM HILL make West Brom, Middlesbro and Newcastle, the three relegated sides from the Premiership, 20/1 to bounce straight back at the first attempt.
Hills make WBA 11/4 favourites for the title and also offer 4/1 Middlesbro; Newcastle; 8 Sheff U; 9 Cardiff; 20 Leicester; Preston.
