Manchester Derby: You Bet Bookies Are Ready To Batten Down The Hatches

William Hill expect the Manchester derby to attract more bets than any other Premier League game ever. In the hour before kick off, Hills predict that up to 8,000 bets will be placed on the game. Manchester City are the 5/4 favourites to win the match, with United 5/2 and the draw 2/1.

“This is without doubt the biggest Manchester Derby ever and we are expecting betting interest to go through the roof,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “We are fully expecting this to be the busiest match, in terms of bets placed, in the history of the Premier League.”

Hills are enhancing the price of both Rooney and Tevez to open the scoring both from 7/1 to 8/1. For Tevez to score and City to win is 4/1 while Rooney to score anytime and United to win is 5/1.

After the ignominy of losing 6-1 at home the last time these two sides met, United are 500/1 to return the favour, while City are 250/1 to win by the same scoreline again.

Despite the home advantage for the derby, Manchester United are 4/9 to lift the Premier League trophy, with City 7/4.

William Hill mobile is also offering a money back special to all customers whereby should your first scorer selection score second instead, you will receive your money back in the form of a free bet (up to and including the value of £50).

Harry Redknapp is one of those managers and he is 1/4 favourite to become the next England manager, with Roy Hodgson 4/1, Stuart Pearce 6/1 and Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola both 12/1. Hills are now offering odds on when the next permanent England boss has his first official press conference and go 8/15 that it is after the end of this season but before the start of the European Championships.

“England will be wary of disrupting any side’s season and so may well wait until after the season to make their announcement,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills have pushed out the odds of Roberto Di Matteo becoming the next permanent Chelsea manager from 11/4 to 10/3 despite his strong start in the hot seat. Jose Mourinho is the 9/4 favourite with Pep Guardiola 9/2. Chelsea are 1/6 to qualify for the Champions League semi finals and 8/1 to win the competition. ROBERTO DI MATTEO was 8/1 with William Hill to to be appointed Chelsea’s permanent manager prior to kick-off of their Champions League game against Napoli on Wednesday evening. After the game he was cut to 5/1 as punters clamoured to back him, and now he is down to 5/2 second favourite with Hills, a fraction behind 9/4 favourite Jose Mourinho. ‘One swallow doesn;t make a summer, and one Champions League victory doesn’t make a trophy, but Chelsea fans appear to believe Di Matteo may well be the man charged with bringing the good times back to the Bridge’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.Hills now make Chelsea 11/8 to manage a top 4 finish in the Premier League – and 25/1 to turn potential disaster into triumph by winning both the FA Cup and Champions League. Hills also offer 5/2 about him playing in a Premier League game during the 2012/13 season for United. ‘Scholes’ unexpected comeback is likely to be short-lived if United get their full squad available, but it has certainly created a lively betting interest and he was well backed at 11/2 to score against City.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Do Football Gods Have More Heartbreak For England Fans In 2012?

2011 was hardly a vintage year for British football, highlighted by the lack of trinkets and nominations for the BBC Sports Personality, but William Hill think that 2012 could be different, offering 7/2 that any footballer wins the 2012 award. With the European Championships taking place in the Summer of 2012, Hills currently make England 7/1 to win the favourites behind Spain 9/4, Germany 7/2 and level with Holland. Germany’s Mario Gomez is the 7/1 favourite to be the tournament’s leading goalscorer just ahead of David Villa, currently out with a fractured leg, at 9/1. Hills also offer 250/1 that the competition’s final is contested between England and the Republic of Ireland.

“With the Euros taking place in an Olympic year, it will be very difficult for the England players to steal the limelight unless they were to win the tournament,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “We think that there are teams more well suited to winning and it could well be another season of heartbreak for English football fans.”

William Hill are also offering 11/4 that 2012 is the year that Sir Alex Ferguson finally steps down from his seat at Manchester United and having experienced tricky starts to their careers Hills offer 4/1 that Fernando Torres returns to Liverpool and 11/2 that Andy Carroll goes back to Newcastle. The record for goals in a Premier League game is 9 and Hills go 10/1 that this is broken in 2012, while 25/1 is offered for any player to break the record of five goals scored by an individual in a single game.

Carlos’ Argie Jaunt Could See Tevez Out Of The Door…foxes Snare Pearson

Following Carlos Tevez’s unscheduled break to Argentina, William Hill offer 1/3 that he leaves Manchester City during the January transfer window, whether permanently or on loan. The favourite to sign him is Juventus with the Old Lady 11/4 to be the next club to capture Tevez’s signature. Former club, Corinthians, are 4/1 while the two Milan sides, Inter and AC are both offered at 6/1.

“There is no doubting that Carlos Tevez is a brilliant player but any club who signs him will be doing so in the knowledge that they will probably be stuck with all his baggage as well,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Roberto Mancini has claimed that Tevez can play again for Manchester City if only he apologises for his recent behaviour but Hills do not think that is likely and he is just 1/6 to start a Premier League game for City this season.

Leicester Latest

Leicester City are expected to announce the signing of Nigel Pearson as their manager later today and William Hill offer 3/1 that he gets them promoted at the first time of asking. Given Leicester City’s reputation for sacking managers, should things not improve at the King Power Stadium, Pearson could be given his marching orders and Hills offer 7/1 that he will not be manager come the final day of the season (1/16 to still be there).

Carlos Tevez Specials:
Next Permanent Club: 11/4 Juventus; 4/1 Corinthians; 6/1 AC Milan; 6/1 Inter Milan; 7/1 Real Madrid; 8/1 PSG; 10/1 Boca Juniors; 12/1 Napoli; 16/1 Chelsea; 16/1 West Ham; 20/1 Arsenal; 20/1 Barcelona

Carlos Tevez to leave Manchester City in January transfer window*: 1/3 Yes; 9/4 No
*Loan Deals count

To start another 11/12 Premier League match for Manchester City: 7/2 Yes; 1/6 No
