Roy’s Boys Are On Their ‘way…9/1 For Tournament

Ashley Young scored the only goal to secure a victory for Roy Hodgson in his first game in charge of England and William Hill make him 66/1 to be the leading scorer in this year’s Euros. The Man United midfielder is also 13/2 (from 8/1) to be England’s leading scorer in the tournament. After Andy Carroll lead the line well against Norway, he is 8/15 to start against France with Defoe 4/1 and Welbeck 13/8.

William Hill Invest £1 Million In England’s Future

The dream of playing for England, of pulling on the famous white shirt, of scoring the winner in the World Cup Final, will remain exactly that for most of us – a dream. With Official England Supporter, William Hill, this summer, however, you can show your support by backing your child or relation.

William Hill are investing £1 million in the future of the England football teams by allowing punters to back their young cubs to grow into lions or lionesses. Entitled ‘Back your Pride and Joy,’ customers will get a free £5 bet certificate at odds of 1000/1 if their ‘pride and joy’ plays for the England men’s or women’s senior team. William Hill will be offering maximum of £1 million worth of stakes in what is bound to be a very popular promotion so punters need to get in there quick to back their ‘pride and joy’.

To qualify, customers simply need to go in shop or online and have a bet on any football market then visit www.williamhill.com/playforengland to customise their own £5 free bet certificate.

William Hill have form when it comes to this kind of bet as England International goalkeeper, Chris Kirkland, will attest. When he was eleven years old, Kirkland’s father backed his son at 100/1 to win a senior England cap. After a few injury scares, Chris eventually won an England cap in 2006 against Greece and netted his proud father a cool £10,000.

Eddie Kirkland, who owes a massive debt of gratitude to his long suffering wife Marie, 53, who encouraged Chris and him every step of the way, said: ‘When I placed my bet 20 years ago, I only wish they had given me a 1000-1 – this is a fantastic opportunity for families with talented offspring’

‘It was never about the money for me once Chris had made the grade – though if I’d had more I’d have put more on back when he was a youngster as I could see his ability shining through. ‘But it’s not about the parents – it’s all about the children. They have got to want to do it themselves. ‘They have to want to play and enjoy playing – my advice to any youngster is the same that I gave to Chris just make sure you enjoy it.”

Chris(31) is now a father himself and is hoping his William Hill ‘Back Your Pride and Joy’ certificate will pay dividends in the coming years ‘At a 1000-1 it’s a great opportunity for a family to get a small fortune for free – I have my certificate for my 5-year-old daughter, Lucy, to play for the England senior women’s football side.’

“Chris Kirkland’s father had no doubt that his son would go on to represent his country and we are offering our punters the same opportunity to back their young cubs to become lions or lionesses,” said William Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Your child could be the next Wayne Rooney or Kelly Smith and you can now back them to do their nation proud.”<

Uncapped England Stars Backed To Grab Caps…goal-line Technology Just 2/1 For Next Season

James Milner and Joleon Lescott took the press conference today and while Lescott looks certain to start, James Milner looks less likely, with William Hill making him 4/9 to start the match on the bench (13/8 to start match on pitch). With Roy Hodgson confirming that Wayne Rooney will not be taking part in any of the game on Saturday, Hills are betting on who will start up front and with Danny Welbeck suffering with a slight injury, Hills make Andy Carroll 1/6 to lead the line, while Jermain Defoe is 6/4 to do so.

There will be three uncapped players who will be hoping to make an impact in Norway (Martin Kelly, John Ruddy and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain) and Hills offer 2/1 that all three win their first caps while 10/1 is offered that none of them do.

It has been confirmed that goal-line technology will be used for England’s home game against Belgium on the 2nd June and William Hill are offering 2/1 (from an original 6/1) that it is introduced into the Premier League by the start of next season (it is 4/11 for it to not be in place).

“The move towards getting goal-line technology appears to be gathering momentum and we are now the shortest price ever for it to be introduced next season,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

James Milner to start vs Norway: 4/9 no; 13/8 yes

Start up front:
Carroll: 1/6 yes; 7/2 no
Defoe: 6/4 yes; 1/2 no

Uncapped players to earn a cap vs Norway (Oxlade-Chamberlain, Kelly, Ruddy): 10/1 none; 2/1 one; 8/13 two; 2/1 three

Bad Boy Barton Backed For No Reprieve…

Bad Boy Barton Backed For No Reprieve…

Joey Barton, today received a 12 match ban for his shenanigans at the end of last season and bookmakers William Hill are betting on what the outcome will be at the culmination of the inevitable appeal that will take place. Barton will undoubtedly feel aggrieved at the extent of his ban and Hills are offering 11/8 that the 12 matches are decreased. It is even money that the ban stays the same and 4/1 that it is increased.

“Barton gives the impression that he has turned over a new leaf,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “It seems as though the FA, however, have taken a dim view as to his antics in the last game of the season and we reckon his ban will remain as it is regardless of appeal.”

Torres Odds-on To Fill Drogba’s Boots, Hulk 4/1 To Do So

Didier Drogba has announced his intention to leave Chelsea and William Hill are betting on who will start Chelsea’s first game of next season and make Fernando Torres 1/2 to fill the Drogba shaped hole on Chelsea’s front line. Other names thrown into the mix are Lukaku 11/4, Hulk 4/1, Falcao and Cavani both 6/1, Llornete at 12/1 and Lavezzi 14/1.

“Drogba has been the big-Drog at Chelsea for the last eight years and whoever fills the gap has very big boots to fill and although Torres has struggled since moving to Chelsea, the odds suggest that he will be taking up the reins,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
