Arsenal 7/4 For Silverware Next Season…but Will Wenger Be In Charge?

Arsenal’s six year wait for silverware took a heavy blow following defeat by Sunderland in the FA Cup. Hills offer 150/1 that they manage to lift a trophy this season but think that 2012/13 season may be more realistic, offering 7/4 that they their next trophy arrives next season. Hills offer 5/4 that Arsene Wenger has left Arsenal come the first game of next season, although he is 4/7 to still be there.

Should Wenger depart the Emirates, Pep Guardiola is the 7/1 favourite to take over, although Remi Garde is 10/1 with Martin O’Neill, Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink all offered at 14/1.

Klinsmann Back To White Hart Lane? Tevez To Return To City? RVP To Madrid?

William Hill are offering 14/1 that Harry Redknapp qualifies for the Champions League for Spurs AND wins the European Championships as England manager. Should Redknapp become the England manager, a job for which he is 4/11 to get, Hills make Jose Mourinho the 9/2 favourite to succeed him at White Hart Lane. Newspaper reports have, however, suggested that current US coach and Spurs legend, Jurgen Klinsmann could be in line to take over and he has been cut from 16/1 to 10/1 to take over from Redknapp.

“Klinsmann is a legend at Spurs and has shown himself to be quite a capable manager as well,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Spurs fans would not be upset with his appointment.”

Fernando Torres’ barren spell continued against Everton on Saturday but Hills reckon he could return to scoring ways in the FA Cup being 6/5 to score his next goal for Chelsea against Birmingham. He is 9/2 to bag his next against Napoli and the same price to do so against Bolton. It is 6/1 for his next Chelsea goal to come against West Brom, although he is 3/1 to fail to score in any of those four matches. Andre Villas Boas is also under pressure at Chelsea and Hills are offering 6/1 that both he and Torres have left Chelsea by the first game of next season.

Carlos Tevez is reportedly returning to Manchester on Tuesday and has been earmarked for a return to the City squad over the coming weeks, but William Hill are odds on (at 4/7) that he does not make another appearance for the Blues this season (5/4 he does).

“The January transfer window has shut and Tevez staying in Argentina does nobody any favours,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “His return could well see him back in the first team squad.”

Arsene Wenger has described the Spanish press as “creative” as they suggest that Robin van Persie could be joining Real Madrid in the summer. William Hill offer 8/11 that van Persie is still at Arsenal on the first day of next season, but also offer 5/2 that he is at Real Madrid. He is 6/1 to have joined Barcelona, 9/1 Manchester City and 14/1 Paris Saint Germain.

4/1 PRE-MATCH HANDSHAKES TO BE SCRAPPED

WILLIAM HILL are offering 4/1 that pre-match handshakes will be scrapped officially in Premier League matches before the start of next season. William Hill, the official betting partner and an official supporter if the FA Cup, have priced up some of the match ups and unsurprisingly make both Liverpool and Chelsea 1/16 shots to qualify from their ties. Hills offer 1/8 that the final is contested between two Premier League sides, 100/1 that no Premier League sides make it and 9/2 that one does.

With Stevenage and Crawley both making it into the draw for the fifth round, Hills are offering 5/6 that Stevenage concede more goals in their match against Tottenham than Crawley do in their match against Stoke.

“Crawley and Stevenage are going to be up against it, but the only thing predictable about the outcome of the FA Cup is that it is so unpredictable and we could see a couple of the proverbial banana skins,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

“I am really looking forward to the Liverpool/Brighton match as both sides play a similar brand of football and after the way that Brighton played against Newcastle, Liverpool could be in for a tricky tie,” said Gaizka Mendieta, speaking exclusively to William Hill.
