Tottenham Shop Destroyed By Riots Re-opened By Spurs Legend

Pat Jennings was at the official re-opening of William Hill’s Tottenham branch that was gutted during the August riots on 6/8/11. The burning carcass of the shop on Tottenham High Road was one of the iconic and enduring images of the riots last year and after £350,000 investment and six months hard work, the doors were opened by the former Spurs player.

Also present at the ceremony were the two members of staff, Sean Biquette and Owen McKenzie, who were working on the night and who guided customers to safety through the back of the shop when the premises came under attack.

As the official betting partner of the FA Cup, William Hill also had the trophy on site so that customers and staff could have their photo taken with it.

“It is wonderful to see things get back to normal on Tottenham High Street. What happened during the riots was terrible but the aftermath has really drawn the community together,” said Pat Jennings. “Let’s not forget about Sean and Owen as well. They have to be commended for their bravery on the night the shop was attacked.”

“The old shop was a great place for people to get together and meet their friends and now they can do it in style as the new shop looks absolutely fantastic,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Spurs are William Hill’s 3/1 third favourites to win the trophy, with their quarter final opponents, Bolton 33/1.

DI MATTEO BACKED TO BE FULL TIME BOSS AFTER CHELSEA TURN IT ROUND…..

ROBERTO DI MATTEO was 8/1 with William Hill to to be appointed Chelsea’s permanent manager prior to kick-off of their Champions League game against Napoli on Wednesday evening. After the game he was cut to 5/1 as punters clamoured to back him, and now he is down to 5/2 second favourite with Hills, a fraction behind 9/4 favourite Jose Mourinho. ‘One swallow doesn;t make a summer, and one Champions League victory doesn’t make a trophy, but Chelsea fans appear to believe Di Matteo may well be the man charged with bringing the good times back to the Bridge’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.Hills now make Chelsea 11/8 to manage a top 4 finish in the Premier League – and 25/1 to turn potential disaster into triumph by winning both the FA Cup and Champions League. However, they are also 2/7 to end the season empty-handed.
HILLS HAVE OPENED A BOOK on how many goals Torres will score from now until the end of the season – and make 0-3 their 4/5 favourite. ‘Even fans of rival clubs seem to want to see Torres come out of his goal drought now, but everyone is speculating on whether he will score again this season’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

JOSE IN DEMAND? YOU BET HE IS…….

WITH JOSE MOURINHO strongly fancied for a return to Chelsea, William Hill were anticipating taking plenty of bets for him to succeed AVB as permanent boss at Stamford Bridge – so when a Kent punter asked for a £1000 bet on him they were surprised that it was for him to take over at Spurs! ‘Mourinho is being backed to be the next boss at Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester United and England – even a man of his ability is unlikely to be able to complete that set’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.’The available Rafa Benitez and Mourinho are the best fancied Chelsea contenders so far.’
Meanwhile, another ‘next boss’ punter staked £3000 on Harry Redknapp becoming the next England manager. ‘Many punters regard the England job as a fait accompli, but if Spurs continue to concede goals at their current rate it may not be!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

SPL FAVOURITES TO BE FIRST WITH GOAL-LINE TECHNOLOGY…..

WITH SPECULATION growing that FIFA are set to endorse the introduction of goal-line technology, William Hill have opened a book on which major European league will get to introduce it first and have made the SPL 13/8 favourites. ‘This seems to be a story which has been around forever without actually happening, maybe at last it is imminent. We think the SPL could be well placed to be considered for the honour of staging the first League game to boast goal-line technology.’ Said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

FIRST LEAGUE TO STAGE LEAGUE GAME WITH GOAL-LINE TECHNOLOGY:
Scottish Premier League 13/8
English Premier League 11/4
German Bundesliga 4/1

ARSENAL 20/1 FOR MIRACLE ESCAPE

WILLIAM HILL make Arsenal 20/1 to manage to overcome the four goal deficit against AC Milan to make it through to the next round of the Champions League when they face AC Milan on Tuesday night. Arsenal are 23/20 to win the game in 90m, 12/5 to draw, with AC 23/10. Robin Van Persie is 25/1 to score a 90m hat trick. A 4-0 90m win for the Gunners is 40/1, with a 5-0 triumph 125/1.

Giggs 20/1 To Reach Four Figures…liverpool 4/9 For Barren 2012/13…torres Troubles

Ryan Giggs celebrated his 900th Manchester United appearance by scoring a goal and William Hill offer 20/1 that he reaches 1000 appearances. “Ryan will have to play for at least another three years in order to reach the 1000 games mark although the way that he has been playing recently suggests that the evergreen Giggs could easily do that,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Liverpool 4/9 For Barren 2012/13

Liverpool lifted the first silverware of the season on Sunday, when they won the Carling Cup and William Hill are offering 2/1 that they win one trophy next season and 8/1 they win two or more. They are 4/9 to win no silverware in the 2012/13 season. “There have been many people talking about Arsenal’s barren seasons but Liverpool, until Sunday, had suffered a similar streak and winning the League Cup is unlikely to paper over the cracks and they will really have their work cut out in order to follow it up next season,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Liverpool are the 5/2 joint favourites to win the FA Cup with Spurs and are 10/3 to finish in the top four in the Premier League, undoubtedly a top target for Kenny Dalglish. Liverpool are 7/1 to win the League Cup next season.

Torres Troubles

Fernando Torres has been suffering in the goals department since joining Chelsea and he has finally been dropped from the Spain squad. Hills are offering 6/4 that he fails to go to Euro 2012 (1/2 to make it). Torres is 13/8 to have left Chelsea by the start of next season (4/9 to still be there).

Torres to make the Spain Euro 2012 squad
Yes – 1/2
No – 6/4

Torres to score at Euro 2012

Bets are losers if doesn’t make squad or doesn’t get playing minutes.

Torres to leave Chelsea by first game of 2012/13 season:
Yes – 13/8
No – 4/9

Liverpool Season 2012/13 Trophies

Villas Boas Burden Eased Along With Odds For The Sack

Andre Villas Boas and Chelsea got a vital and comprehensive victory against Bolton at home and William Hill have eased the price of AVB having left Chelsea by the start of next season from 4/6 to Evens (8/11 to still be there). He is out to 4/1 from 3/1 to be out of a job by the time Chelsea visit Birmingham for their FA Cup replay.

“Chelsea played fantastically in the second half of their match and they have helped to ease the pressure on their under fire manager,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “If they can continue to play like they did after the first goal then their manager will have every reason to think his job will be safe.”

Despite coming from behind to salvage a point at Newcastle, Hills make Terry Connor 8/11 to NOT be in charge of Wolves for the first game of next season (Even money to still be in charge).

Andre Villas Boas to still be at Chelsea on first day of next season: 8/11 yes, EVS no

Andre Villas Boas to have left Chelsea by the start of Birmingham game: 4/1

Terry Connor to be in charge of Wolves on first day of next season: 1/1 yes; 8/11 no

Hills offer 150/1 that they manage to lift a trophy this season but think that 2012/13 season may be more realistic, offering 7/4 that they their next trophy arrives next season.
