The Come Beck Kid 7/2 To Fulfil Olympic Dream

Stuart Pearce may have not selected David Beckham for the 18 man Olympics football squad but he has hinted that he may well be on the stand by list. He is 7/2 with William Hill to play at the games.

If selected on the stand by list Beckham could only take the place of Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy or Micah Richards due to the restrictions of over age players. Golden Balls is 8/1 to score this summer and it is 14/1 that it is from a free kick. Even more remarkable would be if he captained the team. That is offered at 12/1 with Hills.

“Becks playing at the Olympics would be remarkable even to his own standards. It was a shock to see him omitted from the squad but would be even more shocking if he were to come back. No one wants to play for their country more than Beckham and it would be really good to see him represent Team GB this summer,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Beck’s Backed To Light Flame Following Snub…avb To Take Project To Spurs

DAVID BECKHAM has been left out of Stuart Pearce’s Olympic squad to be replaced instead by Micah Richards and William Hill are offering 4/1 that the starting XI in the first Olympics game for Team GB features at least one player from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. GB are the 6/1 joint third favourites to win the Olympic football alongside Switzerland and behind Brazil (15/8) and Spain (9/4). David Beckham has now been slashed from 25/1 to 10/1 to light the Olympic Flame.

“Becks has been disappointed in his dream to represent Team GB at the Olympics but he may well have a role to play in lighting the Olympic Flame,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

David Beckham’s attentions will undoubtedly turn to the MLS Cup, for which his LA Galaxy side are 12/1 to win.

Andre Villas Boas looks as though he is just days away from being confirmed as the next Spurs boss with William Hill making him 1/12 to get the gig on a permanent basis. He is well fancied to do better in the Spurs hot-seat than he did at Chelsea and he is 1/10 to last the whole of next season in charge. AVB’s job will be made simpler by the fact that star man, Gareth Bale, has penned a new four year deal although Hills offer 4/6 that he leaves White Hart Lane before the end of the contract (11/10 he will still be there).

“AVB’s project did not go down too well at Chelsea, but with a younger squad, wholesale changes will not really be required and it may well be able easier to implement his ideas at the lane,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Should Villas Boas take charge, he may have to turn around Spurs’ fortunes without playmaker, Luka Modric, who is 1/7 to leave the club before the start of next season, amid interest from Real Madrid and Manchester United.

La Galaxy to win the MLS Cup: 12/1

GB Men’s Olympic Football: 15/8 Brazil, 9/4 Spain, 6/1 Great Britain, 6/1 Switzerland, 8/1 Uruguay, 12/1 Mexico, 40/1 Japan, 40/1 South Korea, 50/1 Morocco, 50/1 Egypt, 50/1 Senegal, 50/1 Belarus, 50/1 Gabon, 150/1 UAB, 150/1 Honduras, 150/1 New Zealand

Beckham to light the Olympic Flame: 10/1 yes; 1/33 no

Next permanent Spurs manager: 1/12 Andre Villas Boas; 8/1 Laurent Blanc; 14/1 Fabio Capello; 16/1 David Moyes; 16/1 Pep Guardiola; 20/1 Rafa Benitez; 20/1 Jurgen Klinsmann; 20/1 Tim Sherwood; 20/1 Guus Hiddink; 25/1 BAR

AVB to last the season as Spurs boss: 11/2 no; 1/10 yes
*bets void if AVB not named as Spurs manager

Bale to stay until the end of his contract: 4/6 no; 11/10 yes

Modric to still be at Spurs at the start of next season: 1/7 no; 4/1 yes

Dan The Man And How Many Goals Will England Euro Top Scorer Notch ?

TWO GOALS AGAINST DUTCH – THREE IN ENTIRE EURO FINALS?

WILLIAM HILL have opened a book on how many goals England’s top scorer in the Euro finals will score and make THREE their 2/1 favourite, with TWO a 9/4 chance and ONE, the ‘winner’ in the last World Cup, a 7/2 shot. ‘Whoever manages the side in the Euros will need to prioritise his strikers pretty quickly as, at the moment, there are several contenders to start up front in the opening game to stake a claim for a permanent place in the side’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

And Hills make Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck their 11/2 joint favourites to top score for the country innthe tournament.

DAN THE MAN?

William Hill are betting on which Dan – Sturridge or Welbeck, will score more goals and play more minutes during the Euro finals – and reckon Welbeck is likely to outdo Sturridge in both areas. ‘The two Dans are amongst our most promising players and it will be very interesting to see which of the two enjoys the better tournament’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Pearce’s “old” Boys Could Feature In Future If He Gets Permanent Role

Stuart Pearce allowed Stewart Downing to take the Press Conference for England today and William Hill make the Liverpool winger 33/1 to be England’s captain for their first Euro 2012 game (the same price as Rio Ferdinand). James Milner holds the record for most under 21 appearances, many of which were under Pearce and he is 14/1 to be given the captain’s armband for the France game. Steven Gerrard is the 10/11 favourite although there is a suggestion that should Pearce be in charge at the Euros, he will turn to a number of his U21 stalwarts. Micah Richards is 5/2 to start England’s first game of the tournament, with Kyle Walker 7/4, Danny Welbeck 4/6 and Daniel Sturridge 8/11.

“Pearce knows a lot of these players from his U21 days and he certainly would not have called them up if he thought they would not be up to task,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Frazier Campbell has impressed since returning to action following a year on the touchline and he could mark his miraculous return to form with an England cap. William Hill make him 1/4 to make any form of appearance on Wednesday (11/4 to remain unused).

The match against Holland will be a good test for England against a side who must be confident of reaching the latter stages of the Euros and Hills are offering 12/1 that they meet in the tournament and England qualify.

England Captain for Euro 2012 game vs France: 10/11 Steven Gerrard; 7/4 Scott Parker; 11/2 Joe Hart; 10/1 Frank Lampard; 14/1 Gareth Barry; 14/1 James Milner; 20/1 Ashley Cole; 33/1 Rio Ferdinand; 33/1 Stewart Downing

England vs Holland goal scorer match bet: 10/3 Daniel Sturridge; 10/3 Danny Welbeck; 4/7 tie
*both must start or bets void

Frazier Campbell to make his debut: 1/4 yes; 11/4 no
*Debut counts as minutes played, even as a substitute

To start for England vs France at Euro 2012:

Micah Richards: 5/2 yes; 2/7 no
Glen Johnson: 8/11 yes; 1/1 no
Danny Welbeck: 4/6 yes; 11/10 no
Daniel Sturridge: 8/11 yes; 1/1 no
Kyle Walker: 7/4 yes; 2/5 no

Next permanent England manager: 4/9 Harry Redknapp; 6/1 Stuart Pearce; 7/1 Pep Guardiola; 11/1 Guus Hiddink; 12/1 BAR

FA Trophy: Luton Favs As They Draw Bogey Team

Despite drawing bogey side, York, Luton are the 6/4 favourites to win the FA Trophy, with William Hill making York and Newport 9/4 shots with Wealdstone 8/1 outsiders. Hills think that the final will be contested by Luton and Newport County, offering odds of 5/4 that these two line up at Wembley on the 20th May.

FA Trophy Winner: 6/4 Luton; 9/4 York; 9/4 Newport; 8/1 Wealdstone

FA Trophy – Nominate the finalist: 5/4 Luton/Newport County; 13/8 York/Newport County; 5/1 Luton/Wealdstone; 6/1 York/Wealdstone
