Lucky Punters Quids In After Weekend Football Feast

Two William Hill punters were over the moon as they both scooped a small fortune on the football this weekend. The two winners from Sidcup and Watford netted £28,333.76 between them from just £13.75.

The Sidcup punter, who regularly bets on the football at the weekend, placed a £10, 12 team accumulator on Saturday morning and was waiting on four results on Sunday to bag him £17,368.63. Leeds, Brighton, Tottenham and Reading duly won to add to wins from Cardiff, Rangers and Manchester United amongst others.

The Watford based punter placed a 25p Lucky 15 (a four selection bet consisting of four singles, six doubles, four trebles and one fourfold) which returned £10,965.13. Rather than selecting sides to win, lose or draw, the gutsy punter predicted four correct scores. The selections were Aston Villa to defeat Norwich 3-2 at 25/1, Arsenal to win against West Brom 3-0, Newcastle recording a 2-1 victory over Everton at 15/2 and a 3-1 win for Spurs over Fulham at 16/1.

“It is incredibly difficult to predict the outcome of a match, let alone the correct score and so to do so four times on one bet is almost unprecedented,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “We have to take our hats off to this punter, who has increased his initial outlay by almost 3000 times.”

Chelsea Getting Ever Closer…but When Will Torres Score?

Fernando Torres failed to find the net again although William Hill are offering 4/5 that he bags his first Chelsea goal at Stamford Bridge against Copenhagen next week. 7/1 is on offer for him to fail to find the net for the next five matches. Defeat left Blackpool dangling perilously over the relegation trapdoor and thus increased the probability of star man, Charlie Adam, leaving the club. Hills are offering 13/8 that he leaves for Tottenham in the Summer, while 5/2 is on offer for him to join the Kenny Dalglish revolution at Anfield.

“Torres looks more worth 50p than £50 million at the moment, but he is a quality forward but we are expecting him to take us for a small fortune when he does eventually score,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Possibly staring with Copenhagen next week.”

Blackpool are only two points off relegation now and Hills have them as Even money (from 6/5) to be relegated at the end of the season, while Chelsea on the other hand have closed the gap on Manchester United and have been cut from 14/1 to 7/1 to retain their Premier League crown. “Chelsea are well and truly over their slump…write them off at your peril!”

Which Club Will Charlie Adam Be At On First Day Of Next Season: 13/8 Tottenham; 5/2 Liverpool; 5/1 Blackpool; 10/1 Manchester United; 16/1 German Club; 20/1 Spanish Club; 25/1 Italian Club

Fernando Torres First Chelsea Goal: 4/5 Copenhagen; 5/2 Manchester City; 5/1 Stoke; 8/1 Wigan; 12/1 West Brom; 7/1 None of the next five

Rooney Costs Bookies A Small Fortune As Brave Rangers Now 20/1 For Europa Glory

Manchester United and Tottenham both secured victory in Europe tonight and in the process secured their places in the last 16 of the Champions’ League. Wayne Rooney scored the only goal of the evening as Manchester United defeated Rangers and bookmakers William Hill have had to pay out a high five figure sum because of it.

“We are not feeling so smug tonight as it would appear that all of the money that we won on Arsenal losing has been paid out to punters who put their faith in Rooney,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Spurs are now priced at 20/1 from 25/1 with William Hill while United are in from 9/1 to 8/1 to win the Champions’ League.

The English sides both managed to improve on Tuesday’s woeful performances by Chelsea and Arsenal, but despite this, Chelsea are the 11/8 favourites to progress furthest out of all of the English teams. United are 15/8 and Spurs are priced as the 11/2 outsiders of the four.

Rangers were unlucky in defeat to Manchester United and have guaranteed themselves third place in the group. Hills have priced them at 20/1 to now go on and win the Europa League.

William Hill Champions’ League Odds:

Outright: 11/4 Barcelona; 11/4 Real Madrid; 4/1 Chelsea; 8/1 Man Utd; 12/1 Arsenal; 16/1 Bayern Munich; 16/1 Inter; 20/1 AC Milan; 20/1 Tottenham; 50/1 BAR

English Team To Get Furthest: 11/8 Chelsea; 15/8 Man Utd; 7/2 Arsenal; 11/2 Tottenham

Dire Night Of Football Brightened By Arsenal Loss…arsene 11/2 To Be Gone By Next Season

Arsenal lost tonight and Chelsea had to come from behind to win, in what were two very scrappy performances from British sides. Chelsea are the 11/8 favourites to progress furthest out of all the British teams with William Hill.

Arsenal, on the other hand, looked as though they had not recovered from their North London hangover and Hills now make them 7/2 to progress the furthest. Their odds of winning the Champions’ League have been eased from 10/1 to 12/1. Arsenal’s defeat saved bookies paying out a fair old wedge but should their current run of poor form continue, Arsene Wenger could find himself under pressure and Hills are offering 11/2 that he has left by the first game of next season. The Gunners are now level on points with tonight’s conquerors and Hills are offering 10/1 that Arsenal fail to qualify for the latter stages of the competition.

“It was a rather underwhelming evening of football but despite this, we are still smiling as Arsenal have saved us a small fortune. We may have numb bums, but we are still happy,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Champions’ League Odds:

Outright: 11/4 Real Madrid; 11/4 Barcelona; 4/1 Chelsea; 9/1 Man Utd; 12/1 Arsenal; 16/1 Bayern Munich; 20/1 Internazionale; 20/1 AC Milan; 25/1 Tottenham; 50/1 BAR

Ryan Kicks Butt…………….on

RYAN KICKS BUTT – ON…….. AND PUNTER WHO BET £24,000 ON JENSON
ONE William Hill punter lost over £24,500 and another £5000 in bets on odds on favourite Jenson Button who became the fourth consecutive beaten favourite, as Ryan Giggs, originally a 100/1 shot, won the BBC TV Sports Personality of the Year Award.
‘There was a massive gamble on Ryan Giggs winning which saw his odds slashed from 100/1 to 5/2 second favourite – and cost bookies a small fortune’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.’Fortunately for us, we took some hefty bets for Button – one of our clients from Gloucester staked £24,560 on him, and another had £5000, which helped to soften the blow of Ryan’s win’
ANDY MURRAY has already been backed from 6/1 to 4/1 clear favourite with Hills to win the Award in 2010. ‘If England even go close to winning the World Cup it will almost certainly be a footballer who wins the Award next year’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.’However, if they produce their usual quarter-final exit the Award will be wide open.’
WILLIAM HILL…..2010 BBC TV SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AWARD….4/1 Andy Murray; 6/1 Lewis Hamilton; 6/1 Wayne Rooney; 10/1 David Beckham; 10/1 Jenson Button; 12/1 David Haye; 12/1 John Terry; 14/1 Steven Gerrard; 20/1 Amir Khan; Jermain Defoe; Frank Lampard; 25/1 Theo Walcott; 25/1 Mark Cavendish; Rory McIlroy; Lee Westwood; 33/1 Michael Owen; 33/1 Bradley Wiggins; 50/1 Colin Montgomerie.
