Manchester City are the 4/6 favourites to lift the Community Shield on Sunday with William Hill also making the League Champions 2/5 to finish higher than Chelsea in the League this season. “The Community Shield enables sides to get one over on their prospective title rivals but we think that if Chelsea lose this one, the pressure could be on Di Matteo already,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Rdm To Be Given A Chelsea Chance But Gaurdiola Could Be In To Pep Things Up

It has been widely suggested that Roberto Di Matteo will be given the Chelsea job after his incredible work in the second half of the season. William Hill offer 11/10 that the Italian is no longer boss on the first day of the 2013/14 season.

“Di Matteo came in last season and performed admirably and it would be somewhat of an injustice if he was not given a fair crack of the whip,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Abramovich’s axe, however, is never far from the necks of his managers and if RDM slips up in the shadow of Guardiola, wholesale changes could be afoot.”

As Pep Guardiola stepped down at Barcelona, Roman Abramovich’s eyes must have lit up, but with the Spaniard claiming that he wanted a year away from the game, the Chelsea tycoon could not bag his man. William Hill are, however, offering 6/1 that by the time the 2013/14 season rolls round, the former Barca boss is sat at the helm at Stamford Bridge.

Roberto Di Matteo to be manager at the start of the 2013/14 season: 4/6 yes; 11/10 no

6/1 Pep Guardiola to be Chesea manager at the start of the 2013/14 season

Drogba Backed To Stay At Chelsea But Who Else Is Sniffing Around?

Didier Drogba may be out of contract at Chelsea, but William Hill do not think that necessarily mean that the talismanic striker will be leaving Stamford Bridge, offering Even money that he starts next season at the Blues. Barcelona have reportedly targeted Drogba and have said they would be willing to offer a two year contract to the player and they are the 2/1 second favourites to take the Ivorian for the start of next season. Hills also offer 5/1 that he signs for Real Madrid and the same price that he goes to PSG. Another option could be for him to join his former teammate, Nicolas Anelka in China and he is 6/1 to sign for a side over there, while Manchester City are 12/1.

“Despite his advancing years, Drogba is still coveted by the top teams around the world and should Chelsea fail to offer him what he wants, there will be no lack of suitors for him this summer,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

William Hill Odds:

Didier Drogba club at the start of next season: 1/1 Chelsea; 2/1 Barcelona; 5/1 Real Madrid; 5/1 PSG; 12/1 Manchester City

Crouch Wonder Goal Stands Tall Over Rivals

Despite hitting a fantastic goal against Chelsea, Papiss Cisse is not at the top of the betting for this year’s Match of the Day Goal of the Season. Peter Crouch’s effort for Stoke vs Manchester City is 10/11 then followed by Cisse’s second effort at Stamford Bridge at 6/5. Luis Suarez’s effort from the halfway line against Norwich is the 6/1 third favourite followed by any other goal at 16/1.

“It looks like it will be a two horse race for the Goal of the Season honour and we think it could still go either way,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Chelsea 7/2 To Give Barca The Blues – Di Matteo 2/1 To Get Stamford Bridge Gig

Chelsea made it through to the Champions League semi final and William Hill make them 8/1 to win the tournament. The bad news for all Blues fans is that they have to face defending champions, Barcelona, in the semis and Hills are offering 7/4 that they manage just one goal over the two legs with ‘star’ striker Fernando Torres 2/7 to fail to find the net against the Catalan giants. Roberto Di Matteo has only tasted defeat once as Chelsea boss and he is 2/1 to get the manager’s position on a permanent basis.

Hills make Chelsea 7/2 to qualify for the final with Barcelona 1/6, while in the other semi final, Real Madrid are 1/2 to qualify for the final (Bayern are 6/4). The game that most neutrals would love to see is the Madrid/Barcelona final and Hills make that outcome 3/4 to happen.

“Barcelona have been favourites all the way through this year’s Champions League and we do not think our punters will desert the Catalans now ,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Frank Lampard scored the decisive second goal across the tie and Hills make him 6/4 to start England’s first Euro 2012 match.

JOSE IN DEMAND? YOU BET HE IS…….

WITH JOSE MOURINHO strongly fancied for a return to Chelsea, William Hill were anticipating taking plenty of bets for him to succeed AVB as permanent boss at Stamford Bridge – so when a Kent punter asked for a £1000 bet on him they were surprised that it was for him to take over at Spurs! ‘Mourinho is being backed to be the next boss at Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester United and England – even a man of his ability is unlikely to be able to complete that set’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.’The available Rafa Benitez and Mourinho are the best fancied Chelsea contenders so far.’
Meanwhile, another ‘next boss’ punter staked £3000 on Harry Redknapp becoming the next England manager. ‘Many punters regard the England job as a fait accompli, but if Spurs continue to concede goals at their current rate it may not be!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

SPL FAVOURITES TO BE FIRST WITH GOAL-LINE TECHNOLOGY…..

WITH SPECULATION growing that FIFA are set to endorse the introduction of goal-line technology, William Hill have opened a book on which major European league will get to introduce it first and have made the SPL 13/8 favourites. ‘This seems to be a story which has been around forever without actually happening, maybe at last it is imminent. We think the SPL could be well placed to be considered for the honour of staging the first League game to boast goal-line technology.’ Said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

ASH TO CASH IN AS CONTRACT RUNS OUT?

WITH Ashley Cole rumoured to be the subject of potential big money bids from Barcelona and mega-rich Russian club, Anzhi Makhachkala, William Hill have opened a book on where he will be playing on the first day of the next Premier League season and make him odds-on still to be at Chelsea. ‘We are all aware that Ashley Cole takes into account the amount of financial reward on offer before deciding who to play for, particularly with his contract now running down, so it is not impossible that he could be tempted away from Stamford Bridge for the right price said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
