8/13 For London To Come Out On Top In Fa Cup…1/6 To Do So In Champions League

Tottenham booked their place in the FA Cup semi finals and William Hill make them 5/6 qualify at the expense of Chelsea (who are the same price) and 9/4 joint favourites of three (with Chelsea and Liverpool) to lift the trophy. The other semi final is an all Merseyside affair and Hills make Everton 6/4 to qualify for the final (Liverpool 1/2) and 7/2 outsiders to lift the trophy. It is 6/5 for a Merseyside team to lift the trophy and 8/13 for a London side to do so.

“With Sunderland and Bolton bowing out tonight, the FA Cup has become a tale of two cities and the odds suggest that London will come out on top,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

In the Champions League, Chelsea won in Portugal against Benfica and William Hill are offering 1/6 that they now progress to the next round of the tournament. They are 8/1 to win the Champions League although Barcelona and Real Madrid remain some way ahead in the betting at 5/4 and 15/8 respectively. Roberto Di Matteo’s team selection was somewhat derided before kickoff but did the job and Hills make him 11/4 to become the next permanent Blues boss.

Champions League 2/7 To Go Without Goal-line Technology…england/chelsea Manager Latest

With UEFA saying that they may not introduce goal-line technology in their competitions, even if it is given the green light by FIFA in June, William Hill are offering 2/7 that the 2014/15 Champions League kicks off without goal-line technology in place (5/2 they have it). Hills go 10/3 about it being implemented in the Premier League by the first day of the 2012/13 season (1/5 it is not).

Managerial Merry Go Round As England Look Set To Announce New Manager After Season

Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea and Tottenham are the four teams contesting the FA Cup semi finals but despite their relative successes in that competition, William Hill offer 6/4 that two of the four managers in charge (Redknapp, Di Matteo, Moyes, Dalglish) will have left their clubs by the start of next season. Harry Redknapp is one of those managers and he is 1/4 favourite to become the next England manager, with Roy Hodgson 4/1, Stuart Pearce 6/1 and Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola both 12/1. Hills are now offering odds on when the next permanent England boss has his first official press conference and go 8/15 that it is after the end of this season but before the start of the European Championships.

“England will be wary of disrupting any side’s season and so may well wait until after the season to make their announcement,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Hills have pushed out the odds of Roberto Di Matteo becoming the next permanent Chelsea manager from 11/4 to 10/3 despite his strong start in the hot seat. Jose Mourinho is the 9/4 favourite with Pep Guardiola 9/2. Chelsea are 1/6 to qualify for the Champions League semi finals and 8/1 to win the competition. They are 25/1 to win both the Champions League and the FA Cup (for which they are 9/4 to win).

Red Devils Will Leave Bookies Feeling Blue

The FA Cup semi-finals kick off on Saturday as Man City play Man Utd and William Hill make the red side of the city 11/10 favourites to get through to the final. It would appear that the loss of Wayne Rooney for United is not as damaging as the loss of Carlos Tevez for City and Hills punters have been rushing in to back United, already resulting in a five figure loss. Hills favourites to reach the final are Manchester United and Bolton, offered at 17/10, while a Stoke/Manchester City final is the outsider at 7/2.

“Manchester United are firm favourites both with us and the punters and we are keeping our fingers firmly crossed for a City victory,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
