Team Gb On The Drift As Squads Around The World Are Announced For London

As more and more nations are announcing their football sides for the Olympic Games, the betting picture becomes clearer as William Hill have cut the price of Uruguay winning the men’s tournament from 8/1 to 6/1, while GB have gone the other way from 6/1 to 8/1. Brazil are the 7/4 favourites to win the competition, while Spain are 2/1.

GB’s men are expected to progress through a relatively easy group, however, they are 2/1 to exit the competition at the Quarter Final stage. Daniel Sturridge and Craig Bellamy are favourites to be GB’s top tournament scorers at 7/2 with Scott Sinclair and Marvin Sordell 6/1. Captain Ryan Giggs is 10/1.

“GB are not one of the favourites for the competition, but a fair number of the players called up have had experience with Pearce as their manager and so that could help them progress further than most would expect,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

GB’s ladies are also outsiders to win the tournament, despite the fact that they were the only side to defeat Japan at the last World Cup. At 20/1, Hope Powell’s side are behind 13/8 USA; 7/2 Japan; 4/1 Brazil; 7/1 France and 9/1 Sweden.

6/1 Argentina-brazil Final

Kaka sending off Evens to be rescinded:
6/1 ARGENTINA-BRAZIL FINAL

WILLIAM HILL now make Argentina and Brazil 4/1 joint favourites to win the World Cup – and offer 6/1 that the two will meet in the Final.
AND HILLS ARE OFFERING EVEN MONEY THAT KAKA’S SENDING OFF WILL BE OVERTURNED BY FIFA, AND ALSO OFFER EVEN MONEY THAT KEITA WILL BE SUSPENDED FOR SIMULATION.’The sending off was so clearly ludicrous that it is difficult to believe FIFA will not find a way of overturning it, albeit a one match ban would hardly affect Brazil who are already through – but Keita’s blatant simulation must surely warrant a punishment’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

TO WIN WORLD CUP – WILLIAM HILL- 4/1 Argentina; Brazil; 5/1 Spain; 9/1 Germany; Holland; 10/1 England; 20/1 Italy; 25/1 Portugal; 33/1 Mexico; Uruguay.

TO QUALIFY…4/11 Portugal; 5/2 I Coast; 11 North Korea.

**Their point against Italy gives New Zealand a great chance of qualifying for the knockout stages for the first time, and William Hill now make the ‘All Whites’ 11/2 (10/1 prior to the Italy match, and 16/1 before the tournament commenced) to reach the last 16, and 14/1 (50/1 before the start of the World Cup) to win Group F.

Paraguay, who beat Slovakia 2-0, are 1/8 to win the group F with William Hill – who make Italy 5/1 to win the group.

England, France, Spain, Italy and Germany are all in danger of going out at the group stage.

All to qualify 33/1

All to be eliminated 50/1

Not Everyone Fancies England For World Cup

YOU BET NOT ALL BRITS FANCY ENGLAND FOR WORLD CUP!

ALMOST one of every five bets being placed on the World Cup with William Hill by punters in English betting shops is for England to win the tournament – but in Wales it is only one in every nine; in Northern Ireland one in every twelve – and in Scotland just one in every twenty.
‘It is certainly the case that there are regional differences in the support for England to win the World Cup, which is to be expected – but taking the betting as a whole, England are definitely the one team we’d rather see not win the World Cup,’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
In English betting shops Hills only Spain rival the support for England; in Wales the most popular selection is Brazil (21%), closely followed by Spain, with England 3rd; in Northern Ireland punters are opting for Argentina (24%), Spain, Brazil and Holland in front of England; and in Scotland, Brazil (26%) take top billing ahead of Argentina, Spain, and Holland with England 5th.
France are currently the worst possible result for Hills, who have taken one bet of £110,000 on Les Bleus at odds of 20/1, but England are a close second, and Hills anticipate that they will regain the lead before the first match kicks off – ‘The single France mega-bet has distorted our financial liability for France, as there are very few other big bets for them, but we are continually taking substantial bets for England and victory for Capello’s team will prove hideously expensive for us’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Bizarrely, North Korea are Hill’s third worst result – ‘We have taken scores of small bets of up to £80 for the 2000/1 outsiders’ – with Germany, the subject of a £60,000 bet with Hills at 14/1 on Thursday, now the 4th worst outcome.
At the other end of the scale, Hills would welcome unlikely World Cup triumphs for New Zealand, Honduras, Slovakia or Slovenia.

LATEST WILLIAM HILL WORLD CUP ODDS…4/1 Spain; 9/2 Brazil; 13/2 Argentina; 8/1 England; 9/1 Holland; 14/1 Germany; 16/1 Italy; 20/1 France; 25/1 Portugal; 50/1 Ivory Coast; 66/1 Serbia.
**Hills cut Holland from 10/1 to 9/1 on Thursday after continued support.

France punter’s £1.65m bet at stake as:
WORLD CUP PUNTERS TARGET GERMANY AND HOLLAND

WILLIAM HILL cut Holland from 10/1 to 9/1 fifth favourites in the face of continued support for the Dutch to win the World Cup, while one Hill’s client has gambled a substantial £60,000 bet on Germany to win the tournament at odds of 14/1 – and stands to make £840,000 profit.Hills have also taken a bet of £110,000 (£55,000 each-way) on France to win the tournament at odds of 20/1, perhaps the biggest ever pre-tournament outright bet. ‘Betting on the World Cup is at record levels for pre-tournament turnover, which suggests to us that a record £1billion betting turnover is a certainty, making this World Cup the biggest sports betting event of all time.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills have also cut the odds about a Brazil v S Korea World Cup final from 500/1 to 200/1 after taking a string of small online bets for that outcome. ‘We can half understand this gamble!’ commented Sharpe.

England second favourites for World Cup as:
RECORD £1 BILLION MEGA WORLD CUP GAMBLE

THE 2010 WORLD CUP WILL BE THE FIRST SPORTING EVENT TO PRODUCE A BETTING TURNOVER OF OVER £1 BILLION, PREDICT BOOKMAKERS WILLIAM HILL. ‘The last World Cup came close to producing a £1 billion turnover, but we have no doubt that the 2010 tournament will smash through the barrier and go well beyond. The excitement and interest surrounding the tournament is at an all time high – and it looks the most open World Cup for many years, which will enhance the betting interest’ said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.
‘We are desperate for England to do well – but not quite well enough to win as that would cost us millions’ said Sharpe, ‘Our ideal scenario is for England to reach the Final but lose on a penalty shoot-out. That is a 90/1 chance. But even if England do win – well, we’ve had forty three years since 1966 to save up!’

AND WHO WILL HOST THE 2018 TOURNAMENT?…..

BOOKMAKERS WILLIAM HILL have lengthened England’s odds, and now make Australia their 5/2 favourites to win the bid to host the 2018 World Cup following the latest high profile setback to England’s bid from the Premier League’s chairman, Sir Dave Richards. And Hills are now offering 8/1 that leader of the bid, Lord Triesman, will stand down before the end of the year.
Hills have pushed England out from 9/4 to 5/2 and spokesman Graham Sharpe commented: ‘Richards’ resignation in itself is not a great cause for alarm, but it is symptomatic of the continuing unrest apparently surrounding the whole campaign which has only just been re-launched. If Lord Triesman were to bail out it is difficult to predit what effect that would have on the bid’
