Giroud 20/1 To Top Score In Debut Season

Olivier Giroud has signed for Arsenal today and the French striker is 20/1 with William Hill to take the English game by storm and be this season’s top goal scorer in the Premier League with Arsenal 6/1 to be crowned champions in May.

Giroud is Arsene Wenger’s second signing in attack this summer with Lukas Podolski already signed before Euro 2012. Podolski is 6/4 to net more goals than Giroud in his debut season with Giroud at 1/2 to outscore his German counterpart.

With all the new signings in attack thus far for The Gunners, the future of Robin Van Persie still stands in the balance. Hill’s believe the Arsenal captain could go either way with it being 5/6 he stays and 5/6 he doesn’t. If he does go, Manchester City are 6/4 to pick up the Dutchman. Juventus are 3/1, Manchester United are 6/1 and Real Madrid are quoted at 10/1.

Despite the positive signings at the Emirates, the Gunners are fancied to end up trophy less come May. William Hill have them at 1/4 to pick up no trophies, 25/1 for a Premier League and FA Cup double and 1000/1 for a clean sweep of the FA Cup, the Capital One Cup, the Premier League and the Champions League.

“Giroud is a positive signing from Wenger but whether Van Persie stays or not is vital. A bit of luck, keeping RVP, an injury free campaign and a full return to fitness and form for Jack Wilshere is still needed to convince people that Arsenal are serious challengers,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

Spain And Croatia Say No-no To Two-two

After topping Group C, William Hill make Spain the 2/1 favourites to win the Euros for the second time in a row, while Italy, who finished second in the group, are 10/1. The 2-2 draw that was tentatively predicted pre match never materialised and Spain can now look forward to a potential match up with England in the quarter finals. England look likely to finish in second in group D, with Hills offering 11/10 that they do so and 2/1 that they win it.

“There were some who thought that Spain and Croatia would play out a 2-2 draw to ensure they both qualified, so much so that we were forced to offer that result at 4/1, although, by the time kick off arrived, we were out to 8/1 about it and I think our punters realised that there was no reason to believe that the match would be played in anything but the right spirit,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “And right they were.”

Giovanni Trapattoni has only just signed a new contract as Ireland manager, but his reign could come to an end after the country’s poor showing at Euro 2012 and William Hill make Mick McCarthy the 5/1 favourite to become the next boss, with new Norwich manager, Chris Hughton, 9/1 second favourite.

Euro 2012 Outright: 2/1 Spain; 9/4 Germany; 13/2 Portugal; 7/1 France; 10/1 Italy; 12/1 England; 33/1 Czech Republic; 50/1 Greece; 100/1 Ukraine

Next Republic of Ireland manager: 5/1 Mick McCarthy; 9/1 Chris Hughton; 10/1 Marco Tardelli; 10/1 David O’Leary; 12/1 Brian McDerott; 16/1 Martin O’Neill; 20/1 Liam Brady; 20/1 Pat Fenlon; 20/1 Johnny Giles; 20/1 Noel King; 25/1 BAR

Could Moses Lead Chelsea To The Promised Land Again?

With Chelsea having had their first approach for Victor Moses rebuffed William Hill question where he will be at the beginning of next season. So often used to getting their way, Chelsea are 4/7 to land the young striker and 11/8 he will still be at Wigan.

“Abramovich can quite often get like a dog with a bone, as his dogged pursuit of Jose Mourinho has shown in the past and we think that the same determination will prove too much for Wigan this summer,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Chelsea have already signed Eden Hazard and Marko Marin this summer and seem to be on the hunt to strengthen their Champions League winning squad. William Hill believe that 3-4 new signings (4/6) will start on the first day of next season for the Blues. 0-2 is 7/4 and 5+ is 5/1.

Andre Villas Boas is the 2/7 favourite with William Hill to take over at Tottenham despite the clubs links with France boss Laurent Blanc, who is 3/1 for the job. Luka Modric is 8/11 to still be at White Hart Lane for the start of next season. Gareth Bale is 4/9 and Rafael Van der Vaart is 8/15.

“Overlooking his Chelsea experience, AVB has a great managerial record and it would seem that some of the top players will stay to be part of the revolution,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Victor Moses’ Club on the first day of next Season: Chelsea 4/7, Wigan 11/8, QPR 10/1, Arsenal 12/1, Liverpool 16/1, Spurs 16/1, Man City 20/1, Man Utd 20/1

How many new players signed by Chelsea will start first game of next season?

7/4 0-2
4/6 3-4
5/1 5+

Next Permanent Tottenham Manager: 2/7 Villas Boas, 3/1 Blanc, 10/1 Klinsmann, 12/1 Moyes, 12/1 Rangnick, 14/1 Sherwood, 16/1 Martinez, 20/1 Benitez, 25/1 BAR

Still at Tottenham on the first day of next season:

8/11 Modric (1/1 Not)
4/9 Bale (13/8 Not)
8/15 Van der Vaart (11/8 Not)

Portugal 13/2 For Euros Glory As Ronaldo Humiliates Dutch

Germany and Portugal made it through to the knockout stages of the Euros at the expense of Denmark and pre-tournament third favourites Holland. Initially offered at 13/2 the Dutch were very underwhelming all tournament and that did not change against Portugal who are now 13/2 to win the tournament, while Germany are 9/4 joint favourites with Spain.

“Rather than battle as they did in the World Cup, the Dutch capitulated in every game that they played in and we do not have to worry about the half a million liability we racked up on them,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Worryingly, however, Portugal and Germany both leave us with large six figure payouts so we’re not out of the woods just yet.”

Cristiano Ronaldo scored two to put his side through and William Hill make him 4/1 to be the Euros top scorer and more importantly, he is 1/2 to pip Lionel Messi to the Ballon D’Or with the Argentinian 13/8.

Tournament winner: 9/4 Germany; 9/4 Spain; 13/2 Portugal; 7/1 France; 10/1 England; 14/1 Italy; 33/1 Czech Republic; 33/1 Croatia; 50/1 Greece; 100/1 Ukraine

Top goalscorer: 2/1 Mario Gomez; 7/2 Fernando Torres; 4/1 Cristiano Ronaldo; 16/1 Cesc Fabregas; 16/1 Mario andzukic; 25/1 Alan Dzagoev; 25/1 Karim Benzema; 33/1 BAR

Ballon D’Or: 1/2 Ronaldo; 13/8 Messi; 10/1 Iniesta; 12/1 Gomez; 16/1 Xavi; 20/1 Silva, Casillas; 25/1 BAR

Rooney Return To Push Three Lions Into Quarter Finals

Wayne Rooney returns to the England team on Tuesday night as they look to rubber stamp qualification to the quarter finals with victory over the co hosts Ukraine.

Roy Hodgson is ready to unleash Rooney on Euro 2012 after sitting out the opening two fixtures leading William Hill to produce special prices around the England man.
In a Goals Match Bet, Rooney is 7/2 to score more than the Ukraine. It is 1/1 for the tie. He is 4/11 to score no goals on Tuesday, 9/4 to score one, 9/1 for two and 33/1 to find the net three or more times.

The Three Lions could yet fail to qualify. They are 9/4 to finish third in the group and 2/1 to win the group. William Hill believe they will finish second at 11/10 and qualify for the next round where they will play the winner of Group C.

“Carroll, Walcott and Welbeck all scored against Sweden but Rooney is the X Factor in the England team and with barely a half of football under his belt in the last month he will be itching to go out there and prove his worth for England,” said William Hill spokesman Mark Young.

England Finishing Position: 2/1 Winner, 11/10 Second, 9/4 Third.

Goals Match Bet: 7/2 Rooney, 1/1 Tie, 5/4 Ukraine

383 Bets Per Minute As England Fight Back To Defeat Sweden

Following England’s stunning victory over Sweden on Friday night William Hill are sweating. This is due to the fact that British bookmakers could be forking out over £10m should the Three Lions go on and win the trophy.

“Despite the turmoil that faced the England team just months before the tournament was to begin, patriotic punters have gone mad for England and they are by far the worst result for us at this moment in time,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “The two opening performances of the tournament have more than justified our punter’s support as well.”

During the game 34,504 bets were staked with Hills, equating to 383 bets per minute and 6 bets per second on the outcome of the game. England were still relatively well fancied when they were 2-1 down and punters were piling into them at 2/1.

Ireland Down And Out And Set To Be Hammered Italy

Ireland’s chances of finishing their Euros campaign with a win look very slim, with William Hill offering 10/1 for a win for Trap’s men. Italy are 1/4 for the win with the draw offered at 5/1. After conceding the fourth fastest Euros goal ever against Croatia and then conceding in the fifth minute against Spain, the Irish are 9/1 to concede in the first five minutes vs Italy. Italy are 10/3 to score four or more goals and 16/5 to bag three goals.

“Euro 2012 has been a tournament to forget for Ireland but it is not over and Italy will be looking to take advantage of the porous Irish defence – especially early on,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Having waited ten years to qualify for a major tournament, it looks like another long wait for Irish fans with Hills offering 11/8 that they do not qualify for another tournament until after World Cup 2020.

With a 2-2 draw between Spain and Croatia enough to see them both through to the next stage of the tournament, Hills punters have latched onto that and backed the result in from 12/1 to 4/1. Spain are 1/7 to win the group with Croatia 5/1 and Italy 14/1.

Total Italy goals: 6/1 none; 11/4 one; 9/4 two; 16/5 three; 10/3 four or more+

Next Ireland tournament: 7/2 World Cup 2014; 11/8 Euro 2016; 7/1 World Cup 2020; 11/8 qualify for none of these

Roy’s Dilemma: Carroll And Welbeck Both 5/6 To Start…england 10/1 For Euros Glory

Danny Welbeck and Andy Carroll both got onto the scoresheet in Kiev and William Hill cannot decide who will partner Wayne Rooney of the pair in England’s next match. Carroll is 5/6 to start against the Ukraine with Danny Welbeck the same price. Wayne Rooney is 1/20 to start England’s next match.

“Both Welbeck and Carroll did their chances of starting against Ukraine no harm, grabbing a goal apiece but with the top dog returning it seems likely that it will be either/or rather than both who start,”said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

England’s starting XI went in at half time one goal up but 15 minutes later found themselves 2-1 down. With Wayne Rooney to return vs Ukraine, Hills offer 12/1 that Hodgson sticks with the same starting XI. After his superb cameo, Theo Walcott is 6/4 to start against Ukraine although a potential injury picked up against Sweden may prevent him from taking part

England are now 2/7 to qualify from Group D, 2/1 to win it and 10/1 to win Euro 2012.

To start vs Ukraine: 1/20 Rooney; 5/6 Carroll; 5/6 Welbeck

6/4 Walcott to start vs Ukraine (opposite not offered due to potential injury)

England Defensive? 12/1 To Be Tournament’s Top Scorers

William Hill have almost £1 million liabilities on England winning the Euros and after Friday’s thrilling victory over Sweden, look like they will at least qualify for the quarter finals – meaning that by the time they kick off against Ukraine, that liability could well be into seven figures. England are 2/7 to qualify from Group D and 2/1 to win the group. The Three Lions are 10/1 to win the tournament.

After their one goal apiece against Sweden Danny Welbeck and Andy Carroll are both 3/1 to be England’s leading scorers at the Euros, while with four goals already, England are 12/1 to be the tournament’s leading scorers. Wayne Rooney is 1/20 to return against the Ukraine and Hills make his 2/1 that he scores one goal, 10/1 two and 33/1 three or more.

“England threw off the defensive shackles that Roy Hodgson’s sides have shown in the past and the last 20 minutes showed that England can attack with the best and we think they could now prove a few people wrong (including Laurent Blanc) and be the tournament’s top scorers,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Despite the victory, John Terry did not have his best game in an England shirt and he is 9/2 to fail to start against Ukraine while James Milner is 9/4 to be dropped to the bench.

John Terry to start vs Ukraine: 1/8 yes; 9/2 no

James Milner to start vs Ukraine: 1/3 yes; 9/4 no
