You Bet ‘arry Could Be The Man To Make Torres Tick

Harry Redknapp is the Even money favourite to be the next Chelsea manager in the wake of a massive overnight gamble. Having started out as a 25/1 shot, he was backed all the way in to 6/1 by yesterday afternoon. By last night he was 5/2 and the money did not stop there, with numerous three figure bets being placed as far afield as Johannesburg.

“There is no smoke without fire and the weight of this gamble would suggest that a decision may be imminent,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Guus Hiddink is the 3/1 second favourite with Hills, while Marco van Basten is 4/1.

Next Chelsea Manager (Hills odds): 1/1 Harry Redknapp; 3/1 Guus Hiddink; 4/1 Marco van Basten; 13/2 Andre Villas Boas; 7/1 Pep Guardiola; 10/1 Mark Hughes; 16/1 Frank Rijkaard; 16/1 Rafa Benitez; 20/1 BAR

Will Play-off Sides Pay The Penalty?

Will Play-Off Sides Pay The Penalty?
Stevenage and Huddersfield are clear favourites for their respective Play-Off final matches, however, bookmakers William Hill cannot separate Swansea and Reading in the Championship match. Stevenage are 7/5 to win against Torquay while Huddersfield are 13/10 to overcome Peterborough. Swansea and Reading however, are both priced at 6/4 to win in 90 minutes on Monday.

Hills are also offering a number of specials for this Bank Holiday weekend’s Play-Off action and make Huddersfield vs Peterborough the 10/11 favourite to be the highest scoring game of the three. No Play-Off weekend would be complete without the agony of a penalty shootout and Hills offer 13/8 that one of the games goes the distance and 66/1 that all three go to penalties.

“The betting indicates that all three of the games will be tight and it would not be surprising to see at least one of the games suffer the agony of a spot kick lottery”, said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Northern Ireland Out To 7/1 To Reach Euro’s

Northern Ireland have been pushed out to 7/1 from 6/1 to qualify for Euro 2012 following their disappointing draw 1-1 with the Faroe Islands on Tuesday afternoon.

Nigel Worthington’s side were odds on favourites to beat the minnows, but they were only saved an embarrassing defeat when Kyle Lafferty equalised in the 76th minute.

Northern Ireland are now quoted as 14/1 shots to win Group C by William Hill who make Italy the 4/11 favourites to win the Group.

‘Northern Ireland seem to have no problem competing against the big teams in Europe – it’s the lesser teams who are the problem,’ said William Hill spokesman Tony Kenny ‘They put in a brilliant performance against Italy last week, but they failed to follow it up in the Faroes.’

‘Realistically, we’re probably playing for second place – and we’re now 11/10 to qualify for the Euro’s and 4/6 not to.’

In the penultimate round of fixtures – Bohemians play Galway in Terryland Park, while the Hoops are at home to Drogheda United.

‘Bohemians are now in the box seat – and it’s hard to see them dropping points against either Galway or Dundalk,’ said Hills spokesman Tony Kenny ‘Rovers were 1/6 favourites to win the league just a few weeks ago, but the destiny of the 2010 Airtricity League is now out of their hands.’

“Sandro Rosell looks almost certain to replace Joan Laporta as president of Barcelona,” said williamhill.com spokesman Tony Kenny “Augusti Benedito has made huge strides over the last few weeks, but it would be a huge shock if Rosell didn’t win the presidential race.”
