Hodgson Fancied For England: Will Gerrard Miss Out On Captaincy?

Roy Hodgson is the 1/8 favourite to get the England job with William Hill after news emerged that the West Brom manager had been approached by the FA. Having been as short as 1/4 on Saturday, Harry Redknapp is out to 9/2 with current interim manager Stuart Pearce 25/1.

“The FA have announced that Hodgson is the first man that they want to speak to, but whether this is an indication that he is first choice is uncertain,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “All those that think Harry is still the man for the job, now have the opportunity to back him at odds against.”

After his missed penalty against Blackburn signalled the end for Hodgson, Hills have pushed out the price of Steven Gerrard wearing the captain’s armband for England’s first Euros game from 5/4 to 11/8, while Scott Parker is in from 5/4 to 6/5. Joe Hart is the 7/1 third favourite.

Chelsea’s Captain Fantastic (not Terry) 14/1 For England Armband

FRANK LAMPARD captained 10 man Chelsea to the Champions League Final against Barcelona and William Hill make him 14/1 to wear the armband for England’s first game of the European Championships. However, Steven Gerrard and Scott Parker are the 5/4 joint favourites for the captaincy.

Harry Redknapp is the 1/4 red hot favourite to be named as the next permanent England manager but it is less clear when the FA will announce the appointment of their chosen man. William Hill make it 1/3 that the new manager will take his first press conference between the end of the Premier League and England’s first game at the Euros.

“Redknapp is the red hot favourite for the England job as far as our punters are concerned but no one quite knows when the appointment will be made,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

CHELSEA fantastically drew with Barcelona with ten men and William Hill make the Blues 7/4 to lift the trophy. With John Terry getting sent off and going 2-0 down, the Blues were as long as 20/1 to qualify from the tie. The mastermind behind the victory, Roberto Di Matteo, is in to 4/5 from 7/4 to become the next permanent Chelsea boss. Chelsea will be up against it in the Final having four players ruled out by suspension but Hills make Michael Essien 1/2, Bosingwa 1/5 and Torres 2/1 to start in Munich.

BARCELONA have now failed to win three games in a row, almost unheard of and Hills make Guardiola 5/6 to have left his position by the time the 2012/13 season kicks off.

ASTON VILLA lost on Tuesday to Bolton and William Hill make Alex McLeish 9/2 to have left Villa Park by the start of next season.

Who will captain England for the first game of the European Championships: 5/4 Steven Gerrard; 5/4 Scott Parker; 8/1 Joe Hart; 14/1 Frank Lampard; 33/1 Rio Ferdinand; 33/1 Gareth Barry

When will Fabio Capello’s permanent replacement have their first official press conference as England manager: 10/3 before the end of the Premier League season; 1/3 between the end of the Premier League season and England’s first game; 20/1 during Euro 2012; 9/2 after Euro 2012

Chelsea players to be there next season:

Lampard: 4/7 yes; 5/4 no
Drogba: 11/10 yes; 4/6 no

Chelsea To Go All Out For Victory…bruce And Hodgson Slashed For Wolves And England

Tuesday was a day for managerial moves as Steve Bruce became the 2/1 joint favourite to become the next permanent Wolves boss with Hills. Current caretaker boss, Terry Connor is the same price with Paul Ince the 12/1 third favourite. Meanwhile, Roy Hodgson was backed in from 14/1 to 4/1 second favourite to become the next England manager behind Harry Redknapp at 1/4.

“The constant stream of money that we have seen for Harry Redknapp has started to decrease as Spurs have found it increasingly difficult to win,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Coupled with Harry’s somewhat contradictory statements in regards to the England job we have started to see our punters look elsewhere, with Roy Hodgson well fancied.”

Chelsea are 2/1 to qualify for the next round of the Champions League, although Napoli are 4/11 to knock out the final British side left in the competition. The match is 25/1 to be decided on penalties. Roberto Di Matteo has won his first two matches in charge of Chelsea and he is 8/1 to become the next permanent boss.

Fernando Torres is still firing blanks for Chelsea but he is 6/5 to break his 2012 duck against Napoli, 2/1 to do so against Leicester, 7/1 Manchester City and 10/1 Tottenham. He is 11/10 to score in none of these four matches. Torres is 13/8 to have left Chelsea by the first day of next season (4/9 to still be there). Should Torres start against Napoli, he is odds on, at 8/13 to fail to finish the match.

“Chelsea will have to go all guns blazing in order to get an early goal to settle the nerves but given Torres’ recent form, he may not be the man to back to get the all important goal,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Chelsea stage of elimination: 4/11 last 16; 4/1 quarter final; 8/1 semi final; 16/1 runner up; 28/1 winner

JOSE IN DEMAND? YOU BET HE IS…….

WITH JOSE MOURINHO strongly fancied for a return to Chelsea, William Hill were anticipating taking plenty of bets for him to succeed AVB as permanent boss at Stamford Bridge – so when a Kent punter asked for a £1000 bet on him they were surprised that it was for him to take over at Spurs! ‘Mourinho is being backed to be the next boss at Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester United and England – even a man of his ability is unlikely to be able to complete that set’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.’The available Rafa Benitez and Mourinho are the best fancied Chelsea contenders so far.’
Meanwhile, another ‘next boss’ punter staked £3000 on Harry Redknapp becoming the next England manager. ‘Many punters regard the England job as a fait accompli, but if Spurs continue to concede goals at their current rate it may not be!’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

SPL FAVOURITES TO BE FIRST WITH GOAL-LINE TECHNOLOGY…..

WITH SPECULATION growing that FIFA are set to endorse the introduction of goal-line technology, William Hill have opened a book on which major European league will get to introduce it first and have made the SPL 13/8 favourites. ‘This seems to be a story which has been around forever without actually happening, maybe at last it is imminent. We think the SPL could be well placed to be considered for the honour of staging the first League game to boast goal-line technology.’ Said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WILLIAM HILL make Arsenal 20/1 to manage to overcome the four goal deficit against AC Milan to make it through to the next round of the Champions League when they face AC Milan on Tuesday night. Arsenal are 23/20 to win the game in 90m, 12/5 to draw, with AC 23/10. Robin Van Persie is 25/1 to score a 90m hat trick. A 4-0 90m win for the Gunners is 40/1, with a 5-0 triumph 125/1.

‘ARRY’S ENGLAND ODDS LENGTHENED AFTER DRUBBING AT EMIRATES

WILLIAM HILL have lengthened their odds for Harry Redknapp to be appointed as the next permanent England manager from 4/11 to 4/9 after Spurs’ horror-show at Arsenal.’If Harry thinks the reaction to the Spurs’ fans and the media after that result is bad, he may also consider the effect a similar defeat by England might be greeted when and if he becomes boss of the national team’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
However, the Spurs’ result is good news for Arsene Wenger – a25/1 chance to get the England job – who is now odds-on still to be in charge at the Emirates on the first day of next season with Hills who make him 8/15 still to be there, 11/8 to be gone, while his star striker RVP is 5/6 to be there, 5/6 not to.

Could ‘arry Bring Becks Back For Euros?

Harry Redknapp is the 4/11 favourite with William Hill to fill the vacant England position on a permanent basis and is offered at 7/2 to manage England in Euro 2012 and take charge of Spurs at the start of 2012/13 season. David Beckham could well have an opportunity to play again for England and Hills are offering 16/1 that he is called up to the Euro 2012 playing squad by whoever takes over and he is 7/1 to sit on the bench in any role.

“Harry Redknapp is a big admirer of Becks and should he bag the England job, as is widely expected, Beckham could well sit on the bench or even better play again for England,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Liverpool face an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League and William Hill are offering 6/4 that Kenny Dalglish has left Liverpool by the start of next season (1/2 vice versa).

“After just over a year in charge, Liverpool are only slightly better off than they were when Roy Hodgson was in charge and a failure to qualify for any European competition could lead to his departure,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Redknapp Odds Slashed For England Job…but Will He Be Before Or After Euros?

With astonishing claims suggesting that the FA are drawing up plans to oust Fabio Capello before the Euro Championships and replace him with Harry Redknapp, Hills have slashed the odds on the Spurs boss being the man to replace the Italian when he does eventually step down. He is 8/11 to be the next England boss, with Martin O’Neill his closest contender at 8/1 for the job.

“The reports on Sunday morning were pretty sensational and it would appear that when Capello does go, whether before or after the Euros, Harry Redknapp has been earmarked as the successor,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Wayne Rooney bagged his second hat-trick of the season on Saturday and William Hill offer 5/4 that those are his only two. He is 9/4 to get one more this season and 3/1 to get two more. He is 6/1 to net five or more trebles this season.

Next England Manager: 8/11 Harry Redknapp; 8/1 Martin O’Neill; 11/1 Roy Hodgson; 12/1 Gareth Southgate; 16/1 Stuart Pearce; 16/1 Steve Bruce; 16/1 Jose Mourinho; 20/1 BAR

Hills make Rio Ferdinand 13/8 favourite to start as skipper, with Frank Lampard also offered at 7/4 and Wayne Rooney 16/1. ‘Capello is risking a backlash from fans of he hands the armband back to Terry, particularly if Ferdinand is fit to play’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
