Heavy Gamble On Bluebird To Become A Hammer

Dave Jones has been cut from 10/1 to 6/4 to be the new West Ham boss, by William Hill. He has been the subject of a massive gamble over the space of an hour and has pushed other contenders such as Chris Hughton and Sam Allardyce out to 10/3 and 4/1 respectively.

They are 8/11 to be relegated and 9/2 to finish bottom next season, while they are 7/1 to finish in the top half of the table. Paul Lambert, the manager who has performed miracles at Carrow Road, is 8/11 to still be Norwich manager on the last day of next season.

“The odds currently suggest that Norwich will have a real struggle on their hands to try and stay in the top flight for more than one season,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

5/4 Norwich to finish 11th to 17th in Premier League 11/12

Hughton Heavily Backed To Be Baggies Boss

Chris Hughton has been heavily backed in the last two hours to succeed Roberto Di Matteo as the next permanent West Brom manager. Having been priced at 10/1 yesterday, the former Newcastle boss is the 6/4 favourite with William Hill and already results in a high four figure loss. Current caretaker manager Michael Appleton the 3/1 second favourite. Early front runner, Sam Allardyce has drifted from 6/5 to 3/1 with Martin Jol 5/1.

“Any new West Brom appointment would have to work under a ‘sporting and technical director’ which could explain why Allardyce has drifted, as it can be certain that he would want the final say so in any transfer dealings,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Next West Brom Manager Odds: 6/4 Chris Hughton; 3/1 Michael Appleton; 3/1 Sam Allardyce; 5/1 Martin Jol; 6/1 Derek McInnes; 8/1 Roy Hodgson; 16/1 Gus Poyet; 16/1 Alan Curbishley; 16/1 Billy Davies; 20/1 Paul Lambert; 20/1 Aidy Boothroyd; 20/1 Tony Mobray; 20/1 Martin O’Neill; 20/1 Paul Ince; 20/1 Brendan Rodgers; 20/1 Sean O’Driscoll; 25/1 Glenn Hoddle (others on request)

Is Martin Off On His Jol-ies To The North West Or Will Alan Curb His Enthusiasm?

Despite the Venky’s Group maintaining that they want to appoint an English manager to replace Sam Allardyce at Blackburn, it is Dutchman Martin Jol who heads the betting at William Hill at 4/1. He is then followed by a veritable army of British and Irish managers, with Dave Jones and Chris Hughton both 5/1 and Alan Curbishley at 6/1.

“Martin Jol performed well during his time at Tottenham and he is currently out of a job, however, should the fact that he is not British count against him, Dave Jones, Chris Hughton and Alan Curbishley are all waiting in the wings,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Curbs Cut For Villa Boss But Macdonald Still Favourite

William Hill have slashed the price of Alan Curbishley becoming the new Aston Villa manager from 10/1 to 4/1 following an overnight gamble that was sparked by a rumoured meeting with Randy Lerner. Conversely, Kevin MacDonald has been eased out from 4/6 to 5/4. Sven Goran Eriksson is the 5/1 third favourite with Gerard Houllier 10/1. The Mark Hughes gamble has ended and he is now 16/1 from a low of 3/1.

“It looks like Curbs met with Randy Lerner yesterday, so he must be on the shortlist; however the odds seem to suggest that Lerner may well stick with MacDonald,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
