Poland Save William Hill £2m Payout

By avoiding defeat to Russia, Poland did William Hill a massive favour. Russia were Hill’s first £2m liability of the tournament with punters having backed them as if they could not lose (from 7/5 to 23/20 and at every price in between). Over £1,000,000 of the liability was on singles alone with £500,000 wrapped up in accumulators.

“Blaszczykowski’s strike could not have been any sweeter,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “Not only because it was a wonder strike but because it saved us paying out a fortune as well.”

After the Czech’s early goal against Greece became the fastest goal of the Euros so far, Hills offer 16/1 that there is a quicker goal scored at any point in the tournament. Hills also offer 6/5 that three or more additional goals are scored in the opening five minutes of games throughout the rest of the tournament.

How many MORE goals in first five minutes of Euros games: 6/5 three or more; 8/13 two or fewer

Group A winner: 3/10 Russia; 4/1 Czech Republic; 7/1 Poland; 33/1 Greece

United 1/3 For The League And 4/1 To Do So By Seven Or More Points

United 1/3 For The League and 4/1 To Do So By Seven Or More Points

Manchester United moved three points clear of Manchester City and William Hill make the Red Devils 1/3 to win the League, with City 9/4. Having moved three points clear, Hills are now offering a market on how many points they win the League by. They are 9/4 to fail to win the League and 11/2 to win the league on goal difference. They are 11/4 to win by one to three points and the same price to win by four to six points. They are 4/1 to win the League by seven or more points.

“United rode their luck a little bit against Fulham and that is the kind of thing they will have to do from time to time if they are to win the League,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly. “The difference between United and City at the moment is that neither side are playing vintage football, but United are still winning and that is tilting the balance in their favour.”

United had a number of players on the pitch tonight who will be hoping to be going to the Euros with England, with Rio Ferdinand one of many who had a solid game. He is 8/11 to be on the plane (Evens not to). Phil Jones is 1/3 to go, Smalling 8/11 and Danny Welbeck 1/5. Paul Scholes is 4/1 to make the squad after he came on to replace Wayne Rooney.

William Hill Odds:

Premier League outright: 1/3 Manchester United; 9/4 Manchester City; 200/1 Arsenal

To make Euro 2012 squad

YES
Michael Carrick – 3/1 (2/9 no)
Chris Smalling – 8/11 (EVS no)
Ashley Young – 4/7 (5/4 no)
Danny Welbeck – 1/5 (10/3 no)
Phil Jones – 1/3 (9/4 no)
Rio Ferdinand – 8/11 (EVS no)
Tom Cleverley – 3/1 (2/9 no)
Paul Scholes – 4/1 (1/7 no)

How many points will Man Utd win the league by?
Not win the league 9/4
Goal difference 11/2
1-3 points 11/4
4-6 points 11/4
7 points or more 4/1

Scots Betting On Independence Yes Vote

Cameron speech prompts ‘yes’ bets as:
SCOTS BETTING ON INDEPENDENCE YES VOTE

WILLIAM HILL have cut their odds from 3/1 to 5/2 that the Scots will vote in favour of independence when they get the opportunity to do so in a Referendum. And Hills offer 4/11 that the Referendum will take place in 2014 – and 7/1 that the country will become independent by 2020.
‘Although the betting suggests an ultimate ‘no’ to independence at any Referendum, the money we have taken is almost all for a ‘yes’ vote- and every bet struck since David Cameron spoke on the issue has been for ‘yes’.’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
HILLS OFFER 2/5 THAT ONLY THOSE AGED 18 OR OVER WILL BE PERMITTED TO VOTE IN THE REFERENDUM, 7/4 THAT THE AGE LIMIT WILL BE LOWERED FROM THAT.

WILLIAM HILL…..

WHEN WILL SCOTTISH INDEPENDENCE REFERENDUM TAKE PLACE?….4/11 2014; 11/4 2012/2013; 7/1 2015 OR LATER

WILL THE REFERENDUM PRODUCE A VOTE IN FAVOUR OF INDEPENDENCE? – 5/2 YES; 2/7 NO

WILL UNDER 18s BE PERMITTED TO VOTE IN REFERENDUM? – 2/5 NO – 7/4 YES

WILL SCOTLAND ACHIEVE INDEPENDENCE BY 2020? – 7/1 YES; 1/16 NO

You Bet England Should Wear Poppy Shirts

YOU BET ENGLAND SHOULD WEAR POPPIES ON THEIR SHIRTS

BOOKMAKERS William Hill have opened a book on whether England’s players will wear poppies on their shirts when they take on Spain at the weekend – and the bookies have pledged to donate all of their winnings from the market to the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
‘We think it is unlikely that the FA will be permitted to wear the poppy shirts, but doubt whether they would do it regardless and risk the wrath of the governing body. However, we are very much in favour of poppies on the shirts, and will guarantee a minimum four figure donation to the Poppy Appeal, win or lose’ said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe.

WILLIAM HILL..Will England wear shirts featuring a Poppy when they play Spain this weekend?….1/2 NO….6/4 YES

Houllier Odds On To Avoid The Chop This Season – Just !

HOULLIER ODDS-ON TO SURVIVE – JUST!

WILLIAM HILL offer odds of 8/11 that Gerrard Houllier will still be Villa manager on the first day of next season – and Even money that he will not. ‘Houllier has not recovered from his terribly inappropriate comments when Villa played Liverpool, and with results the way are he has already forfeited a great deal of fan backing. In his favour is the very short amount of time he’d been in charge which enables him to say what he’s doing is a work in progress’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
Hills, who currently quote Houllier at 4/1 to be the next Prem boss to go, have also opened a book on where Villa will finish this season and they are just 9/2 to end up in the bottom three, which would almost certainly doom Houllier to departure:

HILLS….VILLA FINISHING POSITION:
Bottom 3……9/2
14th – 17th….3/1
11th – 13th….7/4
7th – 10th…..9/4
Top 6………..10/1

HILLS…NEXT PREM BOSS TO GO…7/4 Grant; 7/2 Hughes; McCarthy; 4/1 Houllier; 9/2 Ancelotti; 11/1 Hodgson.
