Sunday Stroll For Chelsea And City

The European champions and Premier League champions kick off their Premier League campaign on Sunday. Both are odds on favourites to win with Chelsea 4/6 and Manchester City 1/5 and both are expected to cruise to victory with William Hill offering 13/1 that Chelsea and Manchester City win by 3 or more goals. The City game against Southampton is 4/6 to produce the most goals on Super Sunday, with Wigan vs Chelsea 9/4.

Victor Moses has been linked with a move to Chelsea this summer and will be 11/1 to score first against his potential suitors. Franco Di Santo is an ex Chelsea striker, it is 12/1 that he scores first for Wigan and Wigan win. The champions look certain to steam roll new boys Southampton but they have a goal machine in Rickie Lambert. It is 25/1 that he scores at anytime and the Saints score an unlikely victory.

“Both Chelsea and City will want to send out a message to their rivals with big victories and the odds suggest that they will do so with relative ease,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

BURN-ING MONEY?
William Hill have taken a bet of £300 on Burnley winning the Premiership at odds of 2500/1 – in a Hampstead, London betting shop. ‘It is fair to say that this was the most unexpected bet we have taken on the title race, and we have cut their odds to, er, 2000/1’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe, ‘But it wasn’t such a shock to take a £10,000 bet on Manchester City, in the form of a £5000 each-way wager. Burnley and City are our worst potential outcomes in the title race but it is fair to say we are taking one of them more seriously than the other!’

PUNTERS BET ON BROKEN HART

Hart is now 4/1 favourite, having been backed down from 6/1, with Phil Brown and Alex McLeish the 9/2 joint second favourites, and Mark Hughes 6/1 fourth favourite. ‘Pompey’s financial woes and their lacklustre form at the end of the last campaign undoubtedly explain the gamble on Hart, but if their takeover goes through shortly and they are able to bring players in, their situation could change rapidly’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.
