William Hill have pushed the Republic of Ireland out to 6-5 from 4-5 to qualify for Euro 2012 following their 3-2 defeat to Russia at the Aviva Stadium on Friday night.
The defeat, Ireland’s first of the Euro qualifying campaign, leaves Giovanni Trapattoni’s men on the same number of points as Russia who are now the 8-15 favourites to win Group B.
Irelands next match is away to Slovakia on Tuesday night. Hills make Ireland 9-5 to win the game, the Slovakians are the 5-4 favourites, and the draw is on offer 21-10
Meanwhile – Trapattoni, who had a recent health scare, is now 7-2 (from 5-1) with the bookies NOT to see out the Euro qualifying campaign.
Trapattoni needs to rally his troops ahead of the Slovakia game, said Hills Irish spokesman Tony Kenny Consecutive defeats would put a serious dent in our Euro 2012 dreams and the pressure on the ageing Italian could start to tell.
