Bohs Now To 4/11 Complete Hat-trick Of Leagues

Bohemians are now the 4/11 favourites to win the 2010 Airtricity League title following a dramatic series of matches on Saturday afternoon.

The Gypsies beat St. Patrick’s Athletic 1-0 at the Stadium of Light – and then watched their bitter rivals, Shamrock Rovers, lose 2-1 at home to Sporting Fingal.

Saturday’s results leaves Bohemians one point clear of Shamrock Rovers at the top of the table with just two games to go.

Rovers, who lead the league by eight points at one stage, are now 2/1 to win their first league title since 1994.

In the penultimate round of fixtures – Bohemians play Galway in Terryland Park, while the Hoops are at home to Drogheda United.

‘Bohemians are now in the box seat – and it’s hard to see them dropping points against either Galway or Dundalk,’ said Hills spokesman Tony Kenny ‘Rovers were 1/6 favourites to win the league just a few weeks ago, but the destiny of the 2010 Airtricity League is now out of their hands.’

William Hill have pushed the Republic of Ireland out to 6-5 from 4-5 to qualify for Euro 2012 following their 3-2 defeat to Russia at the Aviva Stadium on Friday night.

The defeat, Ireland’s first of the Euro qualifying campaign, leaves Giovanni Trapattoni’s men on the same number of points as Russia who are now the 8-15 favourites to win Group B.

Ireland’s next match is away to Slovakia on Tuesday night. Hills make Ireland 9-5 to win the game, the Slovakians are the 5-4 favourites, and the draw is on offer 21-10

Meanwhile – Trapattoni, who had a recent health scare, is now 7-2 (from 5-1) with the bookies NOT to see out the Euro qualifying campaign.

‘Trapattoni needs to rally his troops ahead of the Slovakia game,’ said Hills Irish spokesman Tony Kenny ‘Consecutive defeats would put a serious dent in our Euro 2012 dreams – and the pressure on the ageing Italian could start to tell.’

Flynn Fluffs His Lines To Leave The Door Open For Ian To Rush In

Brian Flynn took charge of Wales tonight in the first game of his interim employment and it ended in a 1-0 defeat at home to Bulgaria. This has caused bookmakers William Hill to shorten the odds of Ian Rush becoming the next Wales manager from Evens to 5/6. Brian Flynn is now 11/8 having been 6/5 before Friday’s game.

“Friday was Brian Flynn’s big chance to show that he was the man to turn Wales’ fortunes around. It did not quite happen for him and it has now left the door open for Rushy to take over,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Scotland and Wales both lost 1-0 and this seriously jeopardises their chances of qualification for Euro 2012. Wales are now 25/1 to qualify and Scotland are 5/1 with William Hill. Scotland’s odds of winning the competition overall have now drifted to 250/1 from 200/1 and Wales are 400/1 to win the tournament.

WITH Danny Murphy pointing the finger at Blackburn, Stoke and Woklves, William Hill are betting on how many red cards those three clubs will clock up between them by the end of the Premier League season and make them 13/10 to end up with a total of 11 or more, whereas Murphy’s Fulham are 6/5 to receive no more than one all season and he is 10/1 to be red-carded himself. ‘Murphy’s outspoken comments have certainly put the focus on the disciplinary records of the three clubs he mentioned so we’re betting on their red card records’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

IS ENGLAND CAREER OVER FOR OWEN?

Although Michael Owen is hoping to win his England place back, William Hill offer 3/1 that he will play any part in the Euro 2012 qualifying matches. ‘Michael may have to face up to the fact that his England career is over as Capello has shown little enthusiasm for restoring him to the side’ said Hill’s spokesman Graham Sharpe.

Hills offer 2/9 that Owen will play no part at all in the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.

Ian In Rush To Replace Flynn Should Wales Wilt

Brian Flynn is taking charge of the Welsh side for their two Euro 2012 qualifiers on Friday and Tuesday but William Hill make him only 6/5 second favourite to take the job on a permanent basis. Should Wales perform well in their two games against Bulgaria and Switzerland, it would certainly not do his chances of getting the job any harm. William Hill are offering odds of 7/4 that Wales gain three points over the two games, 9/4 that they get no points and 20/1 that they get six.

Ian Rush, whose only foray into management was a short stint with Chester, is the Even Money favourite and Chris Coleman is 9/2 third favourite.

“Much depends on how well Wales fare over these two qualifiers. Should they do well, Flynn would be a shoo-in, although should Wales fail to perform, there are contenders waiting in the wings,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.
